G2/no flies/stock map/shoulg I run it?
I know there were plenty of posts about the need for mapping with the G1 after flies were removed. I recall reading some about the 08 and I believe the overwhelming opinion was that no flies/stock mapping was safe on the G2. I just want to be sure before I fire that baby up. The weather is okay for a test ride and I can't wait much longer.
Can I safely run it with flies out and a BMC race filter on the stock mapping?

C'mon, c'mon. I know we have a very similar thread about which map to use but I don't have a PC to remap yet. Can I ride flies out with no map on my 08? Should I try to keep the rev higher or is the f/a rich enough down low??

You'll be fine D. The 08 is mapped richer everywhere than the first gens...and I've read of many guys including Blue that ran the hell outta there first gens with flies out and no pc, with no issues whatsoever. Besides the 08's open the flies up so much sooner I doubt you'll even have a measurably lean afr down low worth mentioning. The biggest benefit of the mapping will be in the throttle response. Take her for a spin and let us know what you think  You might even get slightly better mileage ta boot with that combo  I would eventually try and pick up a map for it tho.....you will gain abit of power and throttle reponse with a good map

I don't know about your year but they told me HELL NO to running it w out a pc with the flies out... I don't know if I'd do it or not just to be safe

lots of folks have done it on the earlier bikes, even though there was surely a lean spike they survived. on an 08 with the documented richness stock i'm sure you will not hurt it. sure a custom map is better to take advantage of the increased airflow, but it will be ok, give it a ride!

Okay, I'll go for it. I just had to confirm all the stuff I read on the old forum (RIP). If I had a G1, I think I'd wait for PC install. Plan to do that soon, anyway.

Rode my 06 awhile without pcIII and no flies. Bikes fine but made me a little nervous. Finally got the power commander & custom map when I added pipe.
