Northwest Riders: Test N Tune at Pacific Raceways 3/15
Here is a post from my local (PNWriders.com) board. I would love to get a bunch of zx14s to join.
Sunday March 15th, PNWriders.com day at the Pacific Raceways drag strip
Racing starts at 9:00am, but gates open at 8:00am. Since bikes are the last to go, you might be able to show at 9:00am and still run with the first group, but I doubt it. I'll try to be there by 8:00, but I'm not what most would refer to as "a morning person."
$30 to race.
$10 to watch.
I tried to do this same thing last season, but we ended up getting rained out. If there is rain, or the weather is not favorable, we will have a rain day on Sunday March 29th.
I will also be going on the 1st (first test n tune session of the season), so you can come check it out or race then if you want to. I figure that will be more crowded being the first of the season, so I think the 15th is a better choice for bringing a bunch of peeps.
Rules: Snell approved helmet, leather gloves, leather jacket, and leather ankle high boots are all required. If your bike will go over 120 mph, then leather pants are also REQUIRED. You can wear jeans and just keep your bike under 120, but that isn't as fun to me. If you go into the 9's, you'll be required to get an nhra license, but that's pretty easy from what I've heard. Anyways, just cause the magazines says your bike will go 9.7@150mph doesn't mean it will. It requires quite the jockey to go into the 9's in fact! If you don't have leather, I would still show up. This is not a guarantee, but last year I saw many people running over 130 mph in textile jackets and jeans. I don't see this as "cool," but if you want to try drag racing just to say you've been once, this is the time to come! If you get the drag racing bug and want to do it on a more regular basis, you should probably buy some leather.
Suggestions: If this is your first time going drag racing, relax, there will be plenty of vets there to help walk you through. Most of all, just have fun. There was a couple that rode their Harleys about every week. They were slow as heck (running is the 17's I believe), but it's a fun and safe activity.
If you are "in", or "maybe," state what motorcycle you'll be riding and what kind of time you are looking to go.

Do they pay attention to what year test the helmet passed? I think NHRA requires the passing of a 2005 level test this year.
What time/speed do they require an ignition wrist tether?

are far as I know, no ignition wrist tether because all zx14s have tip over switches. I have seen zx14s go 8s with no tether.
As far as the helmet goes, just have one that is in good condition and relatively new.

Maybe.
Draggin just aint my thing.
But if not doing anything else I might show up and make a fool out of myself.
Got no shame, but got the gear.
I understand street tires are hell on the launch pad, true?

no way, unless you are stretched, street tires work GREAT! I have done many launches at the strip on the bt014 and an avon storm (sport touring tire) and never had traction issues. Just do a quick burnout to get the dirt and gravel off your tire and you're good to go.

Was more speaking of hurting the track prep itself.
but at a event like this it isnt a concern.
Guess I could do searches here on set up for launching, ie; sliding forks up in clamps( aint gonna strap) shock dampening etc.
All my stuff is geared towards road racing and "touring".
Been 30 years since I seen a strip from the line.
The rush would be worth it.
Might be fun to see if this Old slow Guy could get it below 10
