Tobin Seat

Just wanted to get opinions on this seat before I make the purchase. How is the quality and comfort?

If you are talking about the deal where you send out your seat and Tobin reworks it for you, it's a good deal. I had him do mine last year and the work quality was very good and the change in seating position took alot of pressure off my wrists. It's not quite the same as buying a corbin or sargent, but it doesn't cost nearly as much either.

Corbin zx14 seats suck real bad. Might as well get a 1 gallon pail , chop the top off and sit in that....
The Tobin seat is superior!

I have the Tobin seat on my 07 ZX14 and love it! The change in seating position and the hump behind the driver portion of the seat keeps you from sliding around when you get on the gas.

I don't remember the exact price I paid...I believe it was around $250 versus $450 for the Corbin. I have a Corbin on my ZX12 and I prefer the Tobin to the Corbin.

Hope this helps.

Yup.
I found the corbin zx14 seat would fit a 300 lb 6'6' dood...... maybe.
The shape forced me to sit waaaay back, was shaped like a horse saddle, and constricted my ability , and mobility to move around for transitions, and body positioning for sport riding.... they must have used the wide glide seat mold for the zx14 seat.

The only thing it was missing was the hardley davison horn on the front of the saddle...

Then when I called to see what they could do they told me I should buy another one! LOL

Unreal!

Anyone have any up, close, and personal photos of their Tobin seat so I can see what they look like?

Some think Russell Day Long makes the best touring seats but they want close to $500 to do a 14 seat.

NinjaKnight,

Check out Tobins website where you can see his seats on different model bikes. He will customize your seat for you but the customizations will cost more.

I put in two calls to tobin and left messages each time and still have not heard back fromt them. I think his work is top notch but if you cant get ahold of him it is hard to send him business. I was hoping maybe they are at the dealer show and will call when they get back.

Anybody here got some insight on how much it lowers the seat height? I'm not really tall, maybe 5'10" or so but it seems from the site that it would bring your legs up alot being lowered nearly 3 inches which might make the ergo's a little less comfortable. Any 1st hand accounts to say either way?

My buest guess is if you were to go down to the seat pan you would probably look at a 1.5 inch drop.
