I just asked that question in another thread! Perfect timing, thank you!

Edit: Is anyone on this board able to use that code or is that specifically for you?

PC was my next step. I need to know a lot of details because I only have a very basic understanding of what these kind of units do.

Question #1: Will the PCV be better/more versatile than the PCIII for my '08?

Other than the decrease in size, and that it is now USB powered, I think its main advantage is the ability to create a map for each gear instead of the same map across the board. The main thing is what you are looking to do with your system? Now that the PCV is out with some Kawi maps the PCIII will be reduced in price.

^^Sounds like a PCIII map wouldn't work on a PCV.

Hey Fastnotch! I just ordered the PCIII (non-street version) from Motorcycle Superstore, and the coupon worked beautifully, thank you! I just realized that it was for an '08, and I have an '09, but the last time I checked there weren't any changes between years so I hope that won't make a difference. thanks again buddy!

I heard Fuel Moto was selling the PCV for $279.

You can't use PCIII maps but they have made all new ones for the PCV. The PCV will work on an 08 bike. I would imagine it will work on an 06-07 too.

This is what Brock said when I sent him an email regarding the PCV:

Hello,
Sorry for the delayed reply. I’m out of the office for a few days at a tradeshow. I’ve answered each of your questions within the text below (in GREEN). If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to call the office. Ask for EJ or Steve – either of them can assist you with sales and/or tech questions. I’m actually on the road on my way to the tradeshow today, and was able to take a moment to check my e-mails, but over the weekend, it may be a bit chaotic, and I’m not sure when I’ll get to my e-mails until I get back in the office next week.

Hi! I have a 2009 ZX14, and after a lot of research I have decided to get your Carbon Fiber Gen 3 Street Smart system with Uncle Sam's refund pennies. The questions I have for you are:

#1 - Are you offering the new Power Commander V with your own special Brock's flavored maps for sale yet? If not, then how long until you make it part of your regimen?

A: Yes we will have mapping available, but because all of our PC3 maps are track tested, they will be a bit more thorough than what we can provide you with on the PC5 – at least until Spring time when we can track test with the PC5. I’ve been told, and plan to verify that my previous map database should work just fine with the PC5, but I won’t know for sure if that is the case until after this weekend (the tradeshow I’m at – DealerExpo.com – will have the authority figures on the new PCs available there for questions.

#2 - I chose to do the PCV because it's... well.... NEW, but is it worth waiting until your company sells it (if you do not have it available already), or is there not much of a benefit over the PCIII; simple street riding, ocasional track use.

A: I would suggest the PC3 USB now for multiple reasons – one and most important is that they are tried and true. As with any new gadget, there could be kinks in the new PC5. I don’t really see a big advantage to the PC5 over the PC3, and at the moment the PC5 isn’t available yet. DynoJet is advertising them as available, but as of yet, they aren’t actually available to the masses. I don’t know what the timing on that availability will be. I also do not yet know pricing on the PC5, but as I said, I plan to do some investigating into the new PCs this weekend.

The pcV needs the auto-tune add-on to make its own maps.....and that costs about as much as the pcV itself. I think the combo runs about 800 bucks or so? And I think there was something else needed......not sure tho. Pretty spendy for just cruising the streets....but prolly not a bad choice for a racer
