I made a DUMBASS mistake!
I took my bike to work today because it is cloudy but beautiful outside, and I stopped by the mall to drop something off to the jewelers. On the way out I excitedly hopped on my bike and rolled to back out of the parking space and I heard a solid CRUNCH! I look down and realized that I forgot to remove my Xenon brake disc alarm and it took a huge chunk out of my brand new front fender. It's going to cost me $180 with tax to replace the damn thing! Sigh! Not an expense I need right now and the damn alarm didn't even go off!!! Just needed to vent.
Now back to your regular scheduled programming.

At least you didn't try to drive your bike up a moving ramp...only to run out of steam and have to jump off of the bike with it still running..
Don't ask....

I did that once on my ninja 1000R....luckily it didn't hit anything but the front brake caliper.........no harm no foul, but I now use alarm systems on both bikes instead of disc locks

Yeah, I am real lucky it was only the fender. I actually have the new Scorpio alarm system that self-arms, but I am a bit overprotective of my new toy, I suppose; overprotective, not overly smart.
I was thinking of doing the ZX10 mod, Steve, but I really do not have any overheating issues at all. Besides, they don't make it in a matching color so I am just going to deal with spending OEM prices.

what all does it take to do the zx-10 fender mod. is it a direct swap or do you need some kind of adapter?

Dubious is your man. I know he used to sell the mod for riders pre-setup, but if he is not doing it anymore then he will at least be able to instruct you on how. http://www.bikeland.org/board/viewthread.php?FID=27&TID=44526&pagenumber=1 Check out the linkie.

N_K,
it is a bummer, but it does happen often... few people would admitt of doing it though LOL
I would only use a lock that has a string wich attaches to the throttle- you won't be able to
miss that one for sure!
Keep your head up and look into the zx10 fenders... maybe they do have a matching black
in the 04-07 zx10, all 636 and 06-08 zx6. You can always get a carbon fiber one if nothing
matches- that's what I did on my white bike.

At least not until next time I think at one point in time we have all done some bone head manuvers, I know I have.

i heard that same crunch when someone tried to steal my bike in tucson. i'd be willing to bet that you've got a warped rotor now. my bike still has the broken fender and warped rotor on it. the disklock kept my bike from being stolen though.

I got two things that give me peace of mind. Lojack and my Scorpion alarm. I couple them wit my 6-point Kryptonite chain and and lock set when I'm away @ a bike function and I'm good. If all this don't slow you down, the Glock 19 (pre-10 round capacity) will, lol. I personally would NEVER use a disc lock. To each his own but not on my bike.

We all park are bikes at work inside the shop. I never take it anyplace else where I can't keep an eye on it. My first motorcycle was stolen from me.
BoneHead Dept: I sold my Suzuki 1000 to a guy who brought his friend. He went to push it up a ramp into the back of his pick-up BY HIMSELF. Half way up lost his balance and dropped it. Good thing I only take cash.

^^^ZX-10 fender is lighter and allows more air to pass to radiator. Also, a lot of people like the sportier look.

Nope. Thank God the rotor was not warped. When I took it to my guy that was the first thing he inspected, and I was not moving fast and I stopped at the first sound of the crunch. I had no idea that the disc lock could do so much damage to my bike.
I have an Abus 59/13 Extreme chain fixed to an ABUS WBA100 anchor that is attached to 4' of concrete, a Scorpio alarm, a Grip-Lock throttle/hand brake immobilizer, and the Xenon disc lock alarm, with my Weathershield cover and lock.... perhaps I went overboard but I worked HARD for this bike, and I don't want some PUNK with nothing better to do to take her away from me. I liked the disc lock because it was so portable. I think from now on I will rely on the alarm and the Grip-Lock, and invest in a 357 Magnum with a license to carry a concealed weapon.

Wow. I leave mine on my open front entryway. No lock, disc alarm is rotting in my soft bags down in the shop. Shot gun is clean and dogs work fine to wake Me.
Glad I live on a mountain, off the main state route. With old retired crusty neighbors. 3" of snow keeps Me from rolling it down to the shop.
