Need help!

I just hooked up a msd shift light its got a GMR pickup that has to be hooked to the +12v coil trigger #4. The shift light is works when the bike is started but when rpm is set on shift light at say 2500 rpm it does not illuminate when rpm is reached. I checked for voltage on coil #4, both wires going into coil have 12 volts (with a test light). I have tried hooking the pickup to both coil wires individually on cly #4 and still nothing. I also loop the wire through the GMR like stated in the diagram. What am i doing wrong??

Use the wire from the ECU as the trigger.............I'll have to look up the color again. We used this wire on the dyno - found it by backprobing.

I'm thinking it is the blue/white, but maybe someone can verify. I don't have access to the bike right now.
