I hope you have more luck than I did, I have the same bike and it was hit by a Garbage truck last summer, while I tried to touch up some of the parts it looked like shit.

In the end I broke down and went to the insurance company… the good part about it was I now have a number of very slightly damaged spares including a tank that is 100% just in case I ever do it do it again.

The plastic is going to the paint shop on Monday. If it turns out good ill post the code and paint type. I got a guy to scan a peice of flaring and it gives the paint code or somethin like that.

paint code

k14 is the kawasaki code. and as far as the paint scanners go they dont work that great! take the code and have it made at an auto parts place but don't get the cheap paint or you will get what you pay for.

I am getting the painter to do the lower first than if I feel it is a good match he can blend the side flaring if not I will buy the flaring. I have a dozen scratches that are in one spot on the right flaring they are to deep to buff out so I am hopeing minimal filler or maybe high build primer will do the trick.

What is wrong with their paint? I read somewhere that there is a shop that will mix all ZX-14
colors in cans or aerosol cans for small touch ups. I have the same color ZX too. Every little nick Really shows up. Wish I had the Red 06.

Hello, Newf. You found a professional painter who would do the job cheaper than buying new fairings!??

I am fixing up my right lower on my midnight saphire blue 08. I just bought some Black automotive touch up paint and filled in the pits. Step 2 is to level the touch ups down with some polishing compound and then a final polish with liquid claybar. It's not as good as a repaint but it is almost like new. It takes a lot of time however.

If you need details on products and technique, PM me.

i'm sure he did as the black on 07s is just a black metallic, midnight saphire blue is a 2 stage paint, its pretty much a black base coat then blue pearl with flake and then clear.
Yes the paint is expensive when i had to repaint the whole side of my bike i ended up just ordering house of color candy and in the process of repainting the bike now

If you're just doing spot touch ups from a 0mph tip over and you get a small bottle of paint, you might as well just get the tiny bottle of paint. For two color layer paint schemes (like midnight saphire blue) the small bottles are always a mixture of the two colors that is supposed to approximate the color effect of a two layer application. If you have long scrapes that need to be repaired, I would think the only color to use would be the one(s) that are identicle to the original paint.

Midnight saphire blue is so close to black that IMO you might as well just use black touch up paint for small pits caused by a 0mph rollover. I picked Toyota Met black by Duplicolor. Unless you are very fussy (even more so than me - LOL) tiny spots of black on m.s.blue will be pretty inconspicuous after they are buffed down as I mentioned above.
