Get a 190 / 55 rear- the bike steers a bit quicker and will give you more lean angle.
The Pilot Powers 2 CT is truely as good as it gets!

Gilberjj I think your vid is the first of this year for us local guys. It was actually 32 degrees this morning! I'm going for a ride today with some friends to check on road conditions so that hopefully this weekend I can lead a ride. Interested? You too Old Guy, we can see if you can ride as fast as you talk smack. (I'm on the eastside, city of Snohomish.)
I love my Pilot Power 2CT's, way way way better than the stockers. Heard alot of good about the BT016's though.
Here is my last vid, the last official big ride of the year for our local forum (PNWRiders). Roads had just thawed from the morning freeze and were still damp, lots of tire spin so I kept the R's down. For the record, Gilberjj is in the big group behind me. Its available in High Definition but you have to go to YouTube for the option.

Took a long ride after work yesterday, the roads are in god awful shape. There is friggin full on MUD in alot of the corners!
Will ride this weekend up on Lake Cavanaugh Rd, but I doubt its much better being that its at a higher elevation. How are the roads on the peninsula?

Southern Vancouver Island is loaded with sand and gravel. Wall to wall in some places. (golf ball size!!!) The lesser used twisties with tree shade cover are constantly wet. They have been wet so long I swear moss is starting to grow. Especially if you are off line were the cagers would have scuffed it off.
Fun though, just calls for delicate throttle control and common sense. Spin it up any time any where!
I imagine the roads west of Port Angeles (like #112/113) will be like southern VI. The excessive snow and then HD rains we had over Christmas/early Jan caused a lot of flooding and debris washed out and across most roads. That's if they didn't wash the road out all together!

Oh ya, this is a tire thread. Time to take off the Michelins and put on Avon Storms. Best rain/wet road tire I have ever tried. I just swapped out last seasons Storms with 14480km on them. They were whipped but GREAT mileage.

Roads are great except for the police like our money too much.
Same as yours actually. Gravel, sand, frost, water, dead salmon, DEER, but usually great tarmac.
Hey sticks and stones, gilberjj look for me at PNWriders. I posted in new guy thread.
Oh yea tire thread,
Can see the different compounds in these Dunlop StreetSmarts. Hope it doesnt show up in wear patterns. we'll see. So far so good after 1500 miles or so. Got BIG chicken stripes still.

It's a total squid site, but it also happens to have at least half of all the sport bike riders in the region on it, and even rides posted up mere hours before they start can gather half a dozen+ riders to go pretty much anywhere from anywhere.
And whenever someone goes down and needs help retrieving there bike or getting a ride home etc. no matter where in the state they are, someone WILL be there to help asap. Which is exactly the point and function of a local board like them.
As far as gathering and disseminating a wide array of knowledge and expertise, they barely scratch the surface of what a site like Bikeland does. Fine by me, I come here to be impressed and learn how to extract the best from my bike and skills (and to irritate countersteer), I go to my local sites to talk smack with people who I actually will meet, and to show off what I've learned from you all. It's a workable formula.

Went on a ride with about 20 folks from that site last night. Nice people and a couple of old crustys like Me.
Reminded Me why I ride alone and do track days.
But it was....,ah...., fun!!
And will do it again.....,I think.
3-4 serious cats would be much better.
Oh yea, it also made me realize just how much ya all know and that I need this site badly.

It's best to find a core group of older experienced guys if you want to do anything but cruise around blasting down straightaways. I've done enough of that in my life, and am happier carving up a technical road with a bunch of guys I can trust with my life.

The type of riding you do should determine what tire brand and type you use. For twisties there is the perfect tire. For those that are on interstates and city streets there is a perfect tire, and for those that are ripping up tracks there is a perfect tire for you. Best thing you can do is what your doing ask questions and do the research with a little trial and error.
