Muzzy m10 compared to Tsukigi

I recently upgraded my exhaust system from a Tsukigi full system to a Muzzy m10. While I still don't have a real good tune for my new muzzy setup, I have a couple tidbits of information.

First off, here is my bike as it sits:

2006 zx14
9.3k miles
Rotella T synthetic oil
Pipercross Race Filter
PCIII
Flies Pulled

I went drag racing a couple times last season, and my best time was 10.14 @ 142. My best mph was using a shorty Tsukigi muffler was 146 mph. This would suggest more power (compared to the regular muffler), but my lack of seat time, it could just be coincidence. This upcoming race season, I plan on having more time and becoming more committed to drag racing. I've already ordered a Brocks lowering kit for the front, and I'm looking for a 16t sprocket, speedo healer, and adjustable links to pop up in the classifieds. Either way, I am committed to running in the 9's before lowering my bike (also, I never plan on stretching my bike, as I like to hit the twisties a lot).

There was nothing wrong with my Tsukigi system, and the fit an finish of the Tsukigi is actually far better then the Muzzy or Brock's systems that I've seen. Tsukigi uses robotic tig welds, and the exhaust seems to be put together with more care..... That being said, I wanted a system that will make as much power as possible, yet retain rideablility through the corners. I had the opportunity to purchase a Muzzy m10 system, and from what I've researched, the Muzzy m10 makes great power, and some still claim that it makes more power then the Brock's systems..... While I don't really believe that myself (as the alien head is my favorite system), I believe my new Muzzy m10 makes more power then the Tsukigi. Here is my reasoning.....

*All races were done without changing anything besides the exhaust
*I weigh 230 and my buddy is around 175

My buddy that I do most of my riding with rides a 2007 R1. Here are his mods...
Full Ti Akro System
PCIII
K&N

While everyone tells me that I should beat this bike no problem, his bike consistently out pulled my bike to 180. I bet with my old Tsukigi exhaust we raced from 80-180 ten different times, with another fifteen times racing from 80-150. While I am shooting myself in the foot by starting at 80 mph (I start in 2nd a little low in the power band compared to 80 being right in his bike's meathouse for 1st gear races), the R1 would always pull out a bikelength or 2 right at the hit. Even if I got the jump, his bike would pass mine and continue to inch away from my bike all the way to 180.

So, finally to the point of this thread.... I raced the same r1 (zero differences) tonight a couple of times and I was pleased with the results. With my bike being equipped with the Muzzy m10, he no longer pulls on my bike, in fact my bike is actually now MARGINALLY faster! We raced twice from 80-the speed limiter and once I won, and once he jumped a little and I pulled back even by 180ish. I know that racing from 60 or lower, my bike would beat his more considerably but we never travel that slow on the freeway.... I figure as soon as I get a 16t front sprocket, my bike will walk his even from a hit.

Even though it is easy to say these results are bogus and can't be confirmed because there are too many variables left to chance (like rider consistancy, weather... etc) I am fairly certain that the muzzy m10 makes more peak power then the Tsukigi.

While I can not confirm this, I suspect that Tsukigi made more mid-range torque then the m10. I have been working on my 2nd gear wheelies and 60mph used to always be the sweet spot to sit up and pin the bike. My bike used to stand up with ease at that speed and gear. It is now much more hesitant to stand up on the back tire with the m10. I can still do it, but it takes more throttle and time to get to the balance point. Perhaps a map actually made for the Muzzy will change this, and hopefully I'll be able to get a good map for the Muzzy m10 soon.

So: using speculation, no scientific data, and fly by the seat of my pants methods, I conclude:
1. The Muzzy m10 makes more peak power then the Tsukigi system.
2. The Tsukigi makes a little more mid range power.

Wow..... this was supposed to be a one paragraph thread.....

i PROMISE u this......the muzzy M10 is slept on, the pipe makes great power all the way to the limiter..... u put a custom tune on her by a decent tuner and i promise u will not b dissapointed. though there is a mass following of Brocks (whom makes great products by the way) muzzy and kawasaki are a legendary combo whom have been working great together for decades and u cant go wrong with what has been proven. the tuner that mapped my bike said i was the only 14 he tuned with a m10 and loved the sound! but when i left he said i made more hp than any other 14 he's tuned....... coincidence? maybe? fact...i dont know.... him getting better and more knowledgable possibly! i just know what he said! Muzzy FTW! lol

Remember... Peak hp doesn't mean fastest. There's a reason why there's a huge following for brocks pipes and why they're winning everything.

I don't really agree..... Serious drag bikes all use sidewinders, which make the most peak hp while sacrificing mid-range torque and being able to lower the bike as much as possible. The only time I use mid range is off the line, and I can't go full throttle until the VERY end of 1st if at all. Therefore, I disagree...

if you're not WFO in 1st by the time that you get to the 60ft then you're doing something wrong. Grow a set, learn how to work that left hand, and try to be WOT by the time you hit the tree.

Edit****

I just remembered that you're at stock height still... I can see how it would be a little harder to get the throttle open, but you should still be gettin it open way before time to shift. Until you learn to do that, a couple of Peak hp is going to get you very little. Most races are won or lost in the first 330 ft.

I would love to see you go "wfo" as you call it right out of the hole on a stock height bike. Just make sure to post a vid of you looping it!

And +1 for races won in the first 330 ft. I predict I'll go 9's first tnt this season. Once I go 9's I'll lower the bike and go from there... Part of my problem was my old pants were too tight. In order to get my feet up, I had to lift my chest, resulting in a wheelie. Here is my best run yet, and you can see when I bring my feet up, my front wheel comes up. That means I have to let off. I got some pants that fit me actually, so I think that will be enough to get me into the 9s.

What are your 1/8th mile times? My best showroom stock time was a 6.40@117 with a 1.62 60ft. All that was done to the bike was the front was lowered 1" and it had helibars risers on it. If you've got the power, you can stop trying to launch out so hard and do like I've been doing since going to the 16t front. launch out at about 2200rpm and get out of the clutch fast and into the throtle. This will allow you to get WOT before the lights and barely fight a bog. You may have to try launching a little higher if you're using stock gearing. You would have been a lot better off getting bones and a strap before trying to upgrade exhausts from the get go. Too many people buy the bike, make it hard to manage and then try to learn to ride it.

The early concensous was that 06's make the same as 08/09. However, just about ever account I've heard since then has said the opposite!
