A Good Story

went to the track Sunday, only one other bike there, 07 zx14LE, stock except a pipe, big guy on it, over 300#. he was pretty good considering his size, he was watching me run 5.80's and then the story begins, said he had a 90 GSXR 1100 back in the day, smooth bores and piped, stock wheelbase, said it ran 5.90's.

I just listened. Dont these guys know that stories like this could only happen in a dream? Do they really think that a 51 year old racer that has been drag racing since 1977 is going to believe that garbage?

He may be a member here, if so maybe you can explain your story, maybe he meant 6.90? Come on Dude, 5.90 on a stock wheelbase GSXR1100! Smokin couldnt even do it when he weighed 90lbs.

Maybe his goal was to get you pissed off. Apparently it worked--

Lets see , I had a KZ1000 that had a slick wheely bars, 1260 motor with cams, smooth bores and it ran 6.00s in the 1/8 .. and he thinks his 90 GSXR 1100 ran 5.90s with a pipe and stock wheel base ...lol...7.90s would be my guess ...

Wheelie, I did it on a 89? 1100 in 92-93 but it was not stock wheelbase. I weighed about 158 then. The owner and 3 other riders never got it out of the 6.0s. We made ballasts out of lead roof jacks to bolt to the front. Boy could I smoke a clutch.....wow.

Not 5.90....5.98 best. It was geared as low as possible to keep from standing straight up with all the ballast weight. It slammed down on me so hard one night that the bolted on lead in the fairings broke them. You would have to launch that thing at like 8000rpm up to get a good snatch. I will stop here with the storytellin' because I wont even know when I'm lying or telling the truth, lol. That was a long time ago for me.
