PCIII faceplate adjustment question?
For you gurus. I have looked over my pcIII instructions and it says that when the two bars are lit up for an rpm range that it equals its base setting on that map, and then each bar equals 2% rich or lean depending on which way you go. So I ran it up to see how far it would go and it only goes up 5 bars before the screen is full. So that would be 10% rich right. So my question is how are you guys setting it up 12 to even 20% richer at full throttle for your dry shots when it seems that you can only add a max of 10% by doing it on the faceplate?

I don't use the faceplate setting method, I use a custom map created on a dyno. I guess that plugging a laptop into the usb port would be the way to do it if you're not setting it up on a rolling road.

I just got off the phone with brocks and they told me never to adjust the pcIII with the faceplate. That it is a 2 dimensional mapping change and will basically make the bike run like crap. This was a shock since I thought that I had read that everyone here was doing just that to add the fuel they needed for their dry shot. He suggested to actually make the changes to the map itself, and upload the nitrous map when I wanted to spray. It would be nice to just adjust the faceplate, but if that doesnt work good I will have to swap the maps when I want to spray, not a huge deal I guess. Ill just have to bring the laptop to the track with me. So If I were to add the fuel to the map itself would I only add the 12% to the 80 and 100% throttle positions?
thanks

invest in a hub or if you have a 08 or 09 get the PC5 It allows you to store two maps. I use the hub and a relay so my map switches only when I hit the button to spray.

LCD screen is what i was looking at getting to store my nitrous map, then easy to switch back and fourth between maps dont need the hub that way.

If you use a wb with that lcd you can make a pass and look at the info on the way back up the return road, with a touch of a button. This is simple and accurite you can modifie map on the fly or in the stagging lanes for next run. Its good for mapping differant fuels as well,No laptop needed......Bill

add __% to the 80 and 100 tps above 7000 rpm. have 2 maps on your lap top. make sure you load the right one for a nitrous pass. pain in the ass, but you dont have to buy anything else. how much you add depends on how much you spray

Well i use a 30 shot and yes i add 12% to the face plate buttons ( top 3rd of the map ) I have done 3 bikes this way with no problems but also remember that i spray into the ram air tubes before the filter ..12% gives me a very very safe A/F for a 30 shot ... I could lean it out and go faster but i like to be on the safe side ..

Look guys Brocks way of doing it in the map is the best way ...I wanted to come up with an easy system and cheap system to use a small shot .. Something that i wouldn't need a lap top or hub .. Something that wouldn't need a controller to use the spray ... My way of spraying the ram air tubes and NOT in the air box with a spray bar causes a very soft hit when the N20 comes on ..This makes it so i can hit the spray very early and reduce ETs ..
You can see from my numbers that this system does work but it's limited to a very small shot ..Good part of this set up is you can go back to a motor map in seconds without all the extra cost of lap tops , hubs ect...If you turn off the spray and forget to go back to a motor map the bike will lose a 10th of a second and 2 MPH .. Not that big of a deal ..
Ever bike is a bit different so even if you copy my set up you should toss it on a dyno and make sure it is safe .. Mine on the dyno only picked up 21 HP off the 30 shot but the reason i went so fast was because i could trigger the spray real early.. Faster you can get the spray on the faster you will go ..I have mine on a throttle switch on the throttle bodys and can switch it on just before i shift to second gear ..
Are there better ways to do this ? YES ... Can you go faster with a different set up ? Yes .. I'm just telling you why and how i did mine ...

Thank you KZScott and smokin for the replies.
Hey smokin how do you add 12% on the faceplate. It looks like you can only go five bars rich on the faceplate which would be 10% right? Am I looking at this wrong?
thanks again for the help
On a side note does anyone know the torque specs for the swing arm and suspension linkage nuts?

In normal mode 2 bars in the center light up ..2% rich will put out the lower light bar and you have 5 more bars to go up ...So all the way to the top is 12% ...
