Video from the track yesterday

Here's a short video of the run where I raced my friend Jason on his k8 busa.

Mods are as follows.

Me-strapped, lowered, no flies, 16t sprocket, shinko soft. 184 lbs in shorts.

Jason- Brocks alien head, PC3 with brocks street map, 40 shot of dry nitrous, lowered, strapped, shinko u-soft. 230 lbs in shorts.

Was not my best run by any means, but wasn't too bad with the exception of the 60ft killing bog. here are the numbers once again.
Jason------------------------------------ME
RT---..181-------------------------------.152
60ft--1.757-------------------------------1.728
330--4.499-------------------------------4.379
mph-89.580-----------------------------88.474
1/8---6.565-------------------------------6.521
mph-121.326---------------------------115.474

Looks good. Try to get your launch RPM's set before lighting up the 2nd bulb though. Looks like you both waited till all 4 bulbs were lit, and with a pro tree, you don't have any time to get set. You can here the bikes bog from not having enough RPM's.

Keep practicing and you'll get it in no time. Have fun and be safe bro!!

I always set mine after the the first staging light. I was just launching at a really low rpm. Jason on the other hand lights the second and then listens for a certain tone. It's going to take a little while to get used to launching from 2200ish rpm's after launching at 4-5k all that time with the stock gearing.

Chad, it's gotta be hard to hear your bike while staging at the line with the Alien Head pipe that he's running anyway. Now that you got those pesky flies out, you should slap those Qwick pipes back on with a PC3 and install the custom map that Brock made for them. Or you can just order a Short Meg (I loved mine) or an Alien Head yourself. Can't go wrong either way with one of those, that's for sure!
Be safe.

Looks to me like Jason's extra 46lbs weight was the main difference. The Kawasaki made it in the first few yards. Someone's engine bogged down too.

i think that we both bogged. the extra weight definitely hurts him, but remember that he lost roughly 30 lbs of exhaust, gained 15hp and is spraying a 40shot. It really shouldn't even be a race. I've seen him go 6.60 without the nitrous, so if he ever gets a good run he'll be hard to beat. On the other hand, I went a 6.41 on a run that was botched because of a wheelie... so if i ever get a really good run I should be right there with him.

I'm really liking the 16t front sprocket as of right now. I consider it to be like the poor man's pipe lol. I get my w2's in a week and a half, so it'll just be a couple more weeks until my exhaust is here. After logging quite a few miles on jasons bike this weekend I've pretty much got my mind set on a short meg. It will definitely be nice to lose some weight and gain some power. The fact that i'll actually be able to hear my own bike at the track is a bonus too. At this point, I'm REALLY used to having to watch my tach though.

we've got some of the best twisty riding in the US here. One that is arguably the best (even over the dragon) called Palomar mountain. The only shitty thing is that with mountains come elevation... and with elevation comes higher DA's. Throw in the san diego desert climate with that and you get slow times lol. One of these days you and smokin need to load up and take a road trip out here to do some riding and racing. I'll provide the food, beer, and place to stay if you don't mind sleeping on blow up matresses or couches lol.

Hey Bawls, I'm gonna throw that same offer at you. You ever want to see REAL mountains (not those pitiful little bumps in the background of that vid) come on up to Washington State this summer. lol

For that matter, the offer stands to any of the regulars here, I got a downstairs rec room with full bath thats yours for the weekend if you are on your way through. And I know all the good roads around here, too!

Ridden through ALOT of California's backroads, but never made it south of L.A.

Sure miss that weather you all get... I remember *resigning myself* to the fact that I had to actually own rain gear and couldn't just Rent it somewhere for the few times I needed it!

Most all races are won or lost in the 1/8th. If you can't put down good #'s in the 1/8 your 1/4 mile times will be even worse.

Ya, usually races are decided in the 1/8th, but it's much more fun to wind it out..... I wish all tracks were a mile long.....

I think I will end up living in cali later in life. In the summer or spring, there is nothing nicer then western wa. Here is why I say this...... it rains enough that everything is green, and there are a lot of mountains. WSDOT does a pretty good job of keeping the roads in good condition (especially compared to the midwest), and riding in the mountains just about beats it all. However, the bike pretty much gets parked this time of year due to all the rain.... I hate rain..... it's depressing.

My brother lived in puyallup for a year and a half doing the band thing. I spent my 21st bday at the ram drinking butt face ales. I loved the whole puyallup, tacoma, seatle area... but I'll take my san diego weather. I can't wait to get a set of leathers, and an nhra license so that I can start going to some of the races at the 1/4 mile tracks north of here. One of these days, I'll get to make some runs down a 1/4 lol.

bawls... I pretty much have my sight set on SD. Is there somewhere on the outskirts of SD that has pretty much the same weather, a close 1/4 track, and *cheaper* houseing?

The closest 1/4 is fontana (california speedway in LA). There's a great place pretty much halfway between san diego and LA called temecula if you don't mind commuting. I'm looking to buy a house there in the next couple of years. You can find reasonable appts in san diego if you know where to look. When you decide to come out let me know and I'll help you out the best I can. I'm planning on staying here for at least the next 15years or so lol.
