if your front tire is 2ft in the air, then you're not doing something right. You should be shooting for 6" to a foot at the most. Remember... It's all in the left hand. If you ever get a chance, take a trip down to florida and let smokin give you some coaching. He's in the high 8's off the bottle at 64" and running about the same times as you on a bone stock 09 zx14.

These guys know of what they speak Chad'' The numbers your running aren't bad,but two foot wheelies are killing your 60 foots. On a stk bottom end a good head and cams package will get you 200-210 hp on mrxo1 and 113 ft torque for about 3 grand, this is with springs,retainers,cams/ timed wright, milled head and a good valve job. This will net you nothing in et and about 5mph in the 1/4 until you learn to leave with the torque you already have. Im not nocking your riding abilities, the 14 just dont need this kind of extra power unless your running a specific class. Hell a small stg-1 nos build is about a grand and will show you 220 hp and ungodly torque numbers. These 14's run better then the power numbers would suggest...........

Chad no need to ride the clutch .... Im out of the clutch by the tree and at full throttle ... Most times i don't wheely but sometimes it will be up just a bit....It just takes a lot of seat time to get the feel , but once you do you will go faster ..

You don't need to ride the clutch more...you are using way too much rpm. Launch at a lower rpm, get the clutch out fast, pin the throttle, and let the motor do the work.
Try 5k rpm, clutch out quickly, and pin the throttle. I am working to get the clutch and throttle work done in the 1st 60 feet. It should be even easier for you, since you have more wheelbase.
I have 16/45 gearing and have run 5.98 in the 1/8th leaving at under 5k rpm. And remember, I am as big as you are.
I'm still learning, but this is what is working for me.

Competition Heads, Cams , Heavy Vavle springs = 3MPH in the 1/8, 3MPH in Quarter and 15 on the dyno.... best I can figure.

I've had 2 Zx-14's an 08 and an 09. I've run both with flies in, and flies out. I did NOT notice any change in Temp after removing the flies. 80% of my riding is commute to work. 20% in the canyons.
On the street I run 1 bar from max (~190?) and on the highway/canyons I run 2-3 bars from max (~170-185?).
Did I mention I live in Southern Arizona? Welcome to 120 degree's in the summer.
Quit being undecisive about pulling the flies and ditching the Tre's, do it! and then come back here and tell us how much you like it.
The $7.00 mod (Klein #2 phillips at Lowes) is way better than a Tre.
I'd wager you could possibly close that 2 bike lead of the Busa's to perhaps less than one just by making that change alone. Top end horsepower wont change much but getting a jump earlier in the track just might.

If you remove the flies I can give you my map (It was given to me from another member here). I've run 148 mph in the 1/4, 120 in the 1/8th with it. I have the M14 Muzzy, BMC Race filter, and pcusb.

If you pull your flies then there is no reason to have the tre because you can't open the flies sooner if they're not there.

Chad seems too me your comming out of the hole too high. You shouldnt have to tach it that high on a 14 to get out of the hole. try comming out around 2000rpm -3000rpm and getting the clutch out faster and then hammering the throttle.Correct me if i wrong but I think that TRE is prohibiting you from doing that??

No it's not... it's allowing him to take off like he would on an 08/09 14... anyone who has ever ridden an 06/07 flies in 14 at the track can attest to the "fucking unicycle" affect that the flies have when you hit 6k lol. I've had a lot of good launches ruined by the flies.
I'm trying a different plan of attack today, but with stock gearing and stock pipes I HAD to launch out at 4500 rpm or higher depending on the density altitude and track prep of the day. If I tried to launch out soft and get into the throttle early my bike would bog and the run would be botched. Might have been something to do with the 90 degree air and 5000ft da though lol. (This is at stock wheelbase, stock pipes, stock gearing, no flies, no mapping, lowered 1.25" rear and 1" front and with a strap kit)
