Been clocked over 200 nine times now and this is something I have never timed but from a standing start I would guess at anything up to 25 seconds. Remember the first quarter can take 10 secs.

18 seconds according to my math if you start timing after reaching 200mph, not quite sure how to do the match for a standing start but most likely over 30 seconds.

25 seconds.... I can send you a spreadsheet with a full acceleration profile if that would be of value

The model assumes the first quarter mile performance as follows
0-60 mph: 3.09
0-100 mph: 5.36
60 ft: 1.83 @ 39.76
330 ft: 4.58 @ 91.25
1/8 mile: 6.68 @ 118.01
1000 ft: 8.47 @ 138.82
1/4 mile: 9.97 @ 150.3

With a trap speed right at 200MPH in the mile.

Since the mile is not an ET race, time to speed figures are rough estimates at best. The results can be very, very different from rider to rider...even with equal mph. Even moreso than you would see at the dragstrip.

There is no traction at the mile with an extended wheelbase bike, so you can't hammer it like you would in the 1/4 mile. Everyone has a different style at the mile, you can't even call it a "launch" in many cases.

I personally found that the "launch" is not that critical. If you have ever been to the dragstrip you have probably experienced some poor ET runs with great MPH. At the mile it is all about maximizing the MPH, regardless of ET.

Shane,
I was modeling on my own 14 with a quarter mile profile that I can run at Maxton - I run very high gear gearing plus 30PSI at the strip - but 45 at Maxton - although I have also run 45 at the strip for practice. You can run 1.8x 60s on pavement without a burnout - I have done that in the past - street racing at timed events. I could check my logs - but if memory serves me correctly - I believe that my last runs at Maxton were 26.xx seconds on my Data Acqusition/GPS logs - those passes were at 191/192MPH trap speeds.

What is your wheelbase? Is it stock?

It is hard to get any traction at 64", I can spin 1st just twisitng the grip and 2nd will spin up if I'm not careful. I personally prefer short wheelbase at the mile.

As I say, I'm not sold on the benefits of trying to launch the bike hard at the mile. I've seen quite a few easy launches ultimately lead to excellent mph.

I am stock wheelbase, down 1.0 front 1.25 back - stock brand tires with street/race compound. - You are right - agreesive launch is questionable since it takes about 240 feet to accelerate an additional MPH at the end of the track. I run the quarter with the same set-up as the mile - excet for the burn out and the 30 vs 45 PSI - which is just for safety - the tall gearing limits launch intensity - I beliebve I am at 18/39 currently - a three gear pass in the quarter.... hits rev limiter around 153 or so....

Just curious, what mph did you see out of your 14? I believe I was there when you were running, but didn't pay attention. What is your setup (na, nitrous, or turbo)?

We've had radio's and have timed the boys at Maxton and it does vary but most of their averages are around 24 seconds for a 200mph pass.

Shane you were there - The last event I ran I had 8 passes over 190MPH - best was 192.004MPH. Stock motor - running MR9 - eveything I could think of outside motor work to make it go fast.... except carbon fiber wheels - I have Gailspeeds on it - brock pipes, ceramic bearings, lowered - custom Corbin seat, etc. I weigh in at 235 suited.

what gearing were you running on that?

Wow that's some pretty tall gearing for a N/A stock motor, with a full sized rider!
Don't you think? Have you tried 18/43 or similar, it would be feasable to reach 200
and be easier on the motor at topend?

Have you dyno'd it, what kind of power are you pushing right now?

Shane,
I am doubtful for the return..... Bonneville shook me up pretty good - I was breaking lose above 185 - and with Cliff, JAson and Dave going down this year - I am thinking that it is time to quit while I am ahead - although I have toyed with getting a jockey to take her for a 200 spin.... it is set up and ready to go - I am playing on the drag strip - doing 10 second 150MPH passes.... that is always entertaining - soft launch and roll on... keeps the rocket jockeies shakin their heads.

It is geared to do a five gear pass in he mile - 203 or 204 it should catch the rev limiter as I recall. By my way of thinking - and modeling - it is geared perfectly - I can wind it out fully in first without lifting the front end or breaking the tire loose - although at Maxton with the low altitude it does tend to float and carry the front end through first. Lower gearing would mean that I would need to use less throttle or short shift - so I have just managed the power through gearing. What I run at the drag strip, I can run on the street or at Maxton with this set-up. HP is reported to be 200 on a conservative dyno..... I am pretty sure it will run mid to high 190s at Maxton with me on it at this point - besides all of the external set-up tricks it also has competition ported and decked heads, cams , heavy springs and mechanical cam chain adjuster - work that was done since my last ventures at Maxton and Bonneville.
