If you look at the Super Sport bikes, the 1000's are often quicker. I've seen quite a few 1000's run equal or faster at the track. But, being serious...I'd take a 175 lb. rider on a 1000 over a 14 with a 320 lb. rider any day of the week....with equally set up machines, of course.
I only have 1 unrestricted pass on her Turbo. That was on 6 lbs., with 116 fuel, and 6 degrees timing pulled...I figure about 190 hp (low compression motor). I went 190 mph on that pass. She went 194 mph on the same 6 lbs, but she is about 80 lbs. less, suited.
She's now been 204 on it, with more boost. I could have given it another whirl, but I'd like to crack 200 on my bike....not hers.
Shane
I assume your talking about top end pulls, because no way will any turbo bike go 190 mph in the 1/4 on 6lbs of boost.

Yes, top end, at Maxton....we are not taking the turbo to the strip yet. It is a Busa...I don't know how it relates the 1000's talked about here...

Cool Shane I also have a turbo busa that I would love to run one time at Maxton. How hard or difficult is it to run there? SORRY ABOUT THE THREAD JACK.

Pretty easy to run; tech inspection is straightforward. Here is a good link:

and another:

Good for 14's and 1000's too.

YUP ME TOO! IN THE SHADE DRINKING BEER WATCHING! lol
The 14 is no cct bike, hell, if you use the ct2's as they are intended, cases will drag after you grind through the lower fairings! LOL

Aw come on guys, you replace that crappy stock rear spring and either properly preload the front or replace those springs too, and you wont be dragging anything but the peg. It still doesn't make it into the scalpel that all the new 1000's are, but using a butcher knife can be just as much fun.

True Dat! Though I do miss my old TL1000R. One of the few bikes made that handled really well and fit guys my size.

Ok my wife has an 08 Gsxr 1000 Completely stock (have the Brocks shortmeg package sitting in a box waiting for install) last year...My 14 had Full Brocks Shortmeg, PC3, flies out and no suspension alterations or strap at the time I raced both Bikes last season.Me on the Stock Gixxer 10.10 et in 1/4 and Me on the 14 last year with previous set up 9.83 et in 1/4... not much difference especially being the Gixxer was bone stock, and the Gixxer is hell keeping the Front end down. Im strapping the front and Full Brocks , PC3 this year i will post the results on the gixxer. just note im 160lbs suited.

hrm... when my 14 was still at stock height with the flies in I ran it at a track near sea level here. The results were a 6.40 @117 with a 1.62 60ft. That should have been good for 9.80's or so I would think. I don't have leathers or a kill switch and the nearest 1/4 mile track is 110 miles away, so i still haven't got to run there yet, but we'll see how she does later this year.

Bawls never said i was ricky Gadson! haha I was getting 1.60 60fts with the strap but without it all i could manage was a 1.80s. I only got to run with the strap the last nite at the track before they shut down for the winter im hoping alot better this year that was my first yr at it. But after running her bike and getting back on the 14 the first pass i dropped a 10th off my time so running that light of a bike helps you get better.

it definitely helps to have to battle a 1000 every now and again. My best 60ft on my bike was the 6.40 run at the track near sea level. 1.62! I've only been doing 1.64 and 1.65 with the strap at barona(which was up in the mountains) but i was running 1.7's before strapping it there. I suspect that I'd be in good air i will be in the 1.5's. We'll see what kind of times I do this weekend with the 16t front sprocket and a shinko 003 on my bike.
