Valve Adjustment

Has anyone on this forum actually adjusted their valves yet? I'm at 20,000 and starting to get close to the time! I have been looking through the shop manual and it certainly looks like a major under taking compared to most of my previous bikes. Not only does a lot have to be removed to get the cam cover off but I'm questioning just how much room there is to see/work once the cover is off. Almost considering, dropping the motor to get the clearance/sight lines to actually get your hands/eyes in there to do a proper job.
Anyone with previous experience doing this job on a 14?

I posted this a month ago and never got any replies. Has anyone adjusted there valves with the motor in the frame? If so, just how difficult was it and did any need to be changed?
Thanks

I have not gone in to the zx-14's motor yet. But I have done this on similar motors, from what I have seen for the most part with a few exceptions is that if you keep clean oil and a proper air filter on it, and its tuned properly and dont abuse the motor it seldom needs done, even at high mileage. Out of the half dosen or so Street bikes, 4 stroke dirt bike and atv's I have owned only one needed adjustment and that was a Honda 400/440ex. Just my 2 cents though. I too am wondering how many have had to re shim them also. I want to know who has checked them selfs not the dealer or shop..lol I know of shops and dealers who will always say "yeah they were out of speck, that will be $xxx.xx for shims and labor will that be cash or charge?." lol.

My previous bike to this 14 was a 92 ZX11. I checked it every 25,000kms and usually changed 4-6 shims each time. They always tightened up a bit. Although a bit ackward to get into on the 11 it was do-able. Plus you didn't need to pull the cams. Just shift the rocker arms sideways. In Dec I was in and replaced the spark plugs on the 14 and that was much-o work to simply change a set of plugs.
I have seen several people post on here claiming to have made 500-900 passes at the drag strip. Have any/none of them checked/changed there valve clearances yet?
Previous bike to the ZX11 was a Yamaha XS1100. I could change the plugs on it in about 8 minutes and adjust the valves in an hour. On the 14 it takes an hour just to get into the spark plugs!!

Checked my 07 at 22,000 miles with no adjustment necessary. All valves were nominal like factory fresh. I never ran above the 3rd bar for temp after the Muzzy stage 1turbo install even in 100 degree weather. I have read that adjust is necessary if you run hot at about 15,000 miles.

How's the touring tire working out on that turbo? seems like even less traction.

It's a touring tire, it has broke loose around 140 on hard accell. snotty in the 1/8. 1/8 6.9 at 108 to finish 10.01 at 147. Acceleration in the last half of the quarter is strong but wants to break loose or wheelie.
