30 dry shot and 91 octane?

Ive pulled the trigger on getting a dry nitrous shifter combo. I was tired of all the mis-shifts at the track and figured if im putting an air shifter on it I might as well do the nitrous too. So my question is can I get away with adding fuel on the pc3 and still run 91 octane (its the highest pump gas I can get around here). If my memory is right smokin was adding 12 percent to the high side and running a 30 shot with 93 pump (was this with the track map?)

Ive also heard of people saying that they needed 22 percent to run a 40 shot on pump.

I have also seen people run the track map with mrx01 and a 30 to 40 dry without adding any additional fuel. But I cant find that stuff anywhere around here. And at $100 per 5 gallons, that would make for a very expensive track day. But then again it will cost much more if the motor goes boom

And whats the easiest way to drain the fuel tank?

thanks

What you said about my set up is true .. I use 93 pump with a 30 shot ... Jesse used a 50 shot with Muzzys set up on 93 pump ... Both of us just added 12% to the top of the P/C face plate buttons on the p/c ... We had zero problems running that set up ..

I don't know if i would try 91 with that set up ... Can you find some100, 110 or 112 ? if so mix it 25% 110 and 75% 91 and you should be fine..

To drain the tank i pull it off and pull the fuel pump out and drain ..After you do it a few times it's easy and doesn't take long..

I run a 30 shot on 91-93 with 15% added on a track map. The Schnitz chart shows 10% is required for a 30 horse jet. I would not trust that unless you have low nitrous pressure. 12-15% is a good-to-go. Should say that no less than 15% on 91. As Smokin states, 93 is what you should run.

How about pulling a little timing to compensate for the lower octane?

Or maybe find some octane booster at your local parts store Racer

I would stay away from the octane booster, it's hard on these new style plugs.

bingo. colder plugs too
I ran 90 hp on 91 octane pump gas with 7.5 degrees pulled, tuned about 11.5:1 AFR on 12.5:1 CR on my 12. very conservative setup. just dont hit the rev limiter.....unless you like taking things apart

sounds like the recipe for melted pistons. I'm guessing Brock has that map tuned at 13.5 to 1 air to fuel ratio. For boost and nitrous, you want that closer to 11.5-12.5:1 depending on boost and nitrous levels. You should really fatten that map up.

+1
my Brocks track map showed 14:1 on MR9 i added 6% just to the motor map and another 20% for the 40 shot map which = 12.7:1 with MRX01

You can not run nitrous without extra fuel and not damage your motor. You can run on motor with a nitrous map and suck someone into a bet and flip the NOS switch and win.
If you use a spray bar add even more fuel as it is much more efficient than a fogger nozzle like I use. You will make more HP and possibly damage your motor with the same size jet. Buy a LM1 or newer O2 sensor with data logger, a window switch to control the nitrous and to protect your motor from the rev limiter, a pressure pro regulator to keep your pressure to the solenoid at 900 psi max, and start off with extra fuel and tune until you get to 12.5:1. You will save a lot of money in the long run. You can run more nitrous with race fuel than pump gas and do not have to back out timing up to a size 40 jet on the ZX14. I use MRX01 and still have stock valve springs and have gone 5.77 @ 129 in the 1/8th - had to get out of it as to not break 9.0 for the class I was racing and 8.93 @ 157 in the 1/4 weighing 220 lbs in gear. I am looking to break 200 at the Texas Mile and run 8.60's in 2009 with a totaly stock motor and a 40 jet on a true legal street bike you can ride to work.
