ok theres this guy whom rode a 07 stretched piped pc'd busa..... veteran rider, ran 9.30's usually 1.40-1.50 60ft..... neways as soon as i got my bike he started talking shit and of course we locked up... 2 times actually. i beat him by 3 bikes first time and by a couple bikes the second time in the 1/4.... this was with the flies still in and stock gearing on mine. now he buys a 08 busa blue n gold. and tried me the first day we met up... from a second gear roll on i walked from him...about 3 bikes. he was all stock then. now he gotta full yosh and either bazazz or something. and hes back at it again. soon as weather permits ima give him what he want. he said because i stretched my bike im loosing mid and top end!!!! this was the first time i ever heard this, and that everyone going shortwheelbase.... i told him bs that changing the wheelbase wont affect hp or mph... will it? thats a new one on me??

extending your wheel base will SLIGHTLY reduce top end. you have a hair more tire slip. like 1 percent for 10 inches in lsr based applications. i really really doubt you will notice it

I dont know if it will actually make you any slower since Ive never had a stretched bike. But would the extra chain links eat up some of the power your putting to the rear wheel? Its more rotating mass.

correct, and added weight of the chain and extensions, I would think you "might "lose 1hp.

i figured! i mean i just never heard that ever... and i told him that if any thing more rotating mass from the longer chain may affect acceleration a tad and weight from the chain and extensions could possibly slow it down a little but im not LOOSING midrang and topend. but were talking me loosing a couple lbs to compensate for the added weight. im 6'0, 190 now but this guy is huge... 5ft 10 and he weighs like 240 and i told him he wouldnt notice a lb or 2 added to mine lol..... but i will say his 08 stock faired way better against me that the 07 did.... he let some backyard guy port his heads and that was the slowest bike ever, getting beat by cbr's n shit. but he got him a win in a roll on against another 14 rider that i know, now all 14's are slow! 08 busas weight less and make more power and im next.... like i said when weather permits ima give him what he want.

I don't wish to insult anyone but it makes me smile when I read about really big guys arguing the finer points of setting up their bike, like 1 or 2 bhp here and there. I would have thought that looking at power to weight ratio's and maybe losing a pound or two would be more productive.

i agree......theres nothing wrong with lightweight wheels, rearsets, rotors etc etc etc....... u could always shed 5-10 lbs and ur bike will thank u! i mean if i loose 10 lbs I just offsetted the cost of buying wheels? im just saying......

I ran 124 mph a couple of times on my '06 before stretching it. Since adding 4" inches to it, I've never been 124 again "over 200 passes". I went from high 5.90s to low 5.70s, I'm thinking that getting there quicker is not letting the mph build up ( never thought about I had lost some HP).

Usually the better you 60' the lower your mph is. At least thats what ive always found to be true with cars and bikes.

lower 60fts aren't getting as much wheel spin to give it that slingshot affect. My fastest MPH's have been when my tire was on the ragged edge of traction. My 6.40 run I felt my tire break loose a little and then grab and launch me forward. I'll take 60ft over mph though lol. 1 or 2 mph isn't as big of a difference on the other end as 1-2 tenths on the bottom.
