16t front sprocket

Holy shit you guys weren't kidding when you said that it takes a stout impact to get the nut off of the sprocket on these things. My friend's electric impact wouldn't budge it. good thing he has a nice OEM impact and a big air compressor. I can honestly say that putting the 16t front sprocket makes at least as much of a difference as pulling the flies. I can't wait to get out to the dragstrip in the next couple of weeks. I was supposed to go on sunday, but i've got watch. Bummer lol.

The street light to street light acceleration is that much better. The only prob I had was getting used to the limiter,I bounced it a couple times(gotta be quick on the foot)lol.Going to get a 42 for the rear soon and go from there.

Yeah that front sprocket nut was tight as f*k. I've been out riding mine sine I put the 16tooth on the front and friggin love it. Only problem Im seeing is I'm gonna have to invest in some tires more often... but its worth it... I mean damn, since Feb this year when I bought my 14 Im on my 3rd rear and 2nd front already, but then again I have over 11k miled on it already

I got a JT. It cost me 16 dollars as opposed to 36 for the zephyr rear sprocket with the rubber damping on it. It roars a little, but not bad. I hardly notice it and I'm running stock pipes still. Maybe It just doesn't bother me because I came from the offroad community and the rearend in my Comet sounds like a firetruck lol.

i got my front from schnitz, if i remember correctly its a vortex. no dampening and i havent experienced any whirring. then again that M10 covers up any noise. i agree though that its def one of the best in the seat of pants mods u can do. i tried just going up 2 in the rear with the stock 17t but didnt have enough chain. perfect excuse to step down in the front.. i love it..

Does the 16T make it more wheelie happy? I cant imagine having more pull! Sounds like a plan...

I'm running a slick right now, so it doesn't hook up that great on the street. I will say that for the first time since I lowered my bike I can grab a hand full of throtle in 2nd gear and power wheelie without ever touching the clutch.

I'm a big fan of low gearing... I just ride to work every day so I'd like to keep my mileage somewhat decent. Btw, does anyone know the percentage that dropping the front 1 tooth will throw the speedo off?

I have a 16t right now, but I'm going to put the 17 back on. Until I extend it some, it is just too wheelie prone. You spend the whole time trying to keep the wheel down.

I think that I'll be fine with the 16t. I'm probably going to wait until I get some wheelbase to add the teeth in the rear.

Run the chain some more. My friend was able to go up 2 teeth on rear with stock chain after he " Stretched it out Some" about 12,000 miles and keeps it lubed and serviced. I know it cost more but I have "Always" used the largest front sprocket as the smaller one's bend the chain more and wear them out sooner. I also only use steel sprockets with a new chain " together". Up 1 tooth on the rear is a Great Street gear and still have good Top End.:-)

How do you like the M10? Dyno chart??? Muzzy fan??? Read about ZX-14 not loking "hot weather" I kive in Texas, 2007 ZX-14
Thanks

I haven't had any overheating problems out of my bike and I travled from paris texas to san diego california in late june in temps upto 126 degrees. Then again, I 've also never been in traffic because lane splitting is legal here in cali :P

In "normal" stop-n-go traffic here in Texas, my bike usually stays at the 2nd to highest bar...and that has been in 100+ degree weather. The only time it ever overheated was one night coming back from the track and getting stuck in a 3 hour inch by inch traffic jam. H O R R I B L E! I had to turn it off and walk it. And I would have LOVED to split those lanes that night, but the girlfriend was in her car behind me. Couldn't be that cold.

lol, I always split lanes when my wife is following me. That way if i have a clear road and decide to kick it out I don't have to hear about it :P

i found that with the muzzy fan it def helps out in traffic, it used to get up next bar from top in 100 degree weather in traffis and now it usually stays 2 or 3 bars under.... as far as the muzzy pipe i have the dyno chart but no internet to upload it...im on my phone now, it made 184.48 before power commander wth just pipe and 191.68 after power commander and custom map. plus everyone loves the way it sounds!

I use the 16t Kawi OEM front sprocket. Bought the Vortex 16t first but
then decided not to use since a lot of the guys here complained
about the whirling they could hear and went with the OEM instead.
At 16/43 and stock wheelbase my bike is as wheelie prone as a liter bike-
very effortless power wheelies in the lower gears. I like it a lot this way.

The part number for the oem kawi zephyr 1100 sprocket is 13144-1317. It's a 16t with the rubber damping and costs $36 as opposed to $16 for a jt like I'm running or $22 for a vortex.
