How big a deal is the frame recall.

Really close to buying an 2006 ZX-14. i have one spotted and it is a nice bike with low mileage. I know i will love this bike as i just sold my ZRX 1200, and want an upgrade. So how sound is the frame. even if the bike has passed the dealer inspection. thanks and I look forward to showing you all my new toy.

I believe you should be fine. Most people made a big deal out of it. Just make sure you check the frame thoroughly. Look closely and double check the welding for any hairline fractures. I am selling my 14 as well and wanted to put that out there for you. I am located in new york and I don't know if that is around your neck of the woods. I can send you pics and info.

You can check for cracks with a flashlight before you buy it. If it isn't cracked, it won't crack by the time you get it home and spend the whole 10 minutes it takes to retorque the 2 engine mount collars to the proper spec. If it aint cracked and torqued right it'll never break. The frames are fine...it was improper torque from the factory that was the prob
The torque specs and description of how to do it is listed on this site..its the same exact recall info the dealers got from kawi.

I personally would get the vin # off the bike BEFORE purchasing it as well as doing a visual inspection. This way I could call Kawasaki and have them look it up prior to buying it. This way I know what I'm up against. My frame was severed at one point. If I didn't happen to be under it fiddling with something else I might not have been here to type this. While others on here may not think it's that serious. I think it's very serious.

Are you guys still keeping an eye on those welds?
I recently checked mine while the rear wheel was off...
but had ignored it for a couple of months after the dealer inspection.

Really nothing that worries me tho!

Yeah, I quit checking on them awhile ago. Still will during tire changes, but not regularly like the first couple months after the recall.
