Pics of my "new" '06
I got this last week. Went for a ride today (58 degrees outside in Washington State) and thought it would be nice to take a few pics of my new ride. It has a few things I haven't seen a lot of. Rear chrome grab handle. Side grab handle to lift the bike on the center stand. An inner fender to keep crud off the rear shock and kind of a cool tank protector. I also have pics of the Buell footpegs and 1 1/8" bar risers if you want to see those.
I've been a machinist for over 30 years and I am going to make my own bar risers. I don't like the two high risers I have seen for sale. It doesn't have to be elaborate. Just a pair of risers that put the bars up and back about 4" from stock.

Went to your album and checked it out. Looking good those M14's go well with that black bike. But, while I was checking out your hugger I couldn't help but ask does this dude ever lean, LOL. Seriously brotha, you need to work on kill'in those monsterous chicken strips. Just yanking your chain.

Go to the topic "Picture Posting" above. It has a great step by step on how to post pics.
So far as fabricating a bracket to raise handle bars. All I did was take the top triple clamp from an old 78 XS11 Yamaha and using a hack saw, couple of files and a drill created the bracket shown below. I used a normal alloy tube handle bar to sit into the perches I had created.
It raised the bars about 5" and back 3". I was able to stretch/reroute all of the cables and wires except the front brakes. I bought a longer braided stainless brake line for that.
It is extremely comfortable to ride for hours at a time. I also put on a Zero Gravity ST smoked windshield to complete the "look" and comfort zone. I'm no machinist, just creative and $ challenged.

Yeah, good one Blue! Hey, I just got the bike last week and it rains half the time here this time of year.
About the M4's, the more I hear them the more I like them. They may be on for a while.

I'm 5'9" and with the taller bars and taller windshield it catches me just at visor height at 80mph. Any faster and I start to slouch down a bit. Above 140mph I don';t seem to be able to escape the wind blast. In fact the helmet starts to lift from the vacuum above and the chin strap tries to strangle me. Of course I don't spend much time at those speeds. 120 for longer periods and it works good. It's just that the road starts to get too narrow for my comfort zone.

Well, if you are in an enclosed area like between buildings it's pretty loud. Out in the open it's not too bad. "Loud" can only be compared to other exhausts and I haven't heard any other 14 exhausts. Like one guy here said it's quieter than a lot of the Harley's you hear. It's certainly quiet enough if you ride with ear plugs. If it's quiet enough for the cops in your area is the question.

Hey dcjens, when I got home tonight the first thing I did was put your Concours 14 seat on my ZX. The front half gray matches my tank guard but most importantly the seat fits me like a glove. I'll know for sure when I put some miles on it but I'm thinking it's going to be nice. I measured across the width and it is at least 2 inches wider, which surprised me. Thanks for the great deal.

Thanks speed. Loosing the green could be easy or it could be tricky even for a professional. If it was me and I could afford it I would buy a bike that looked just the way I wanted. People who buy new bikes usually take very good care of them. Why not buy a black '06 or '07 from one of these people. If there isn't a spotless used bike in your area there may soon be with the economy going the way it is. Heck, I bought my CRX off e-Bay 1200 miles away, flew down, met the guy at the airport and drove it back. If you get enough pics and ask enough questions you can get a great deal. With the money you save you can fix that puppy up just the way you want. Better yet, buy one that is already fixed up the way you want.
