Results from my first time to the track on the 14

On my first pass I took it easy and went 9.9 @ 146mph with a 1.799 60'.

Second pass I went 9.61 @ 147.8mph with a 1.69 60'

third I banged the rev limiter on the 2-3 shift and went 9.64 @ 146.1 mph

and on my last I pulles a 1.601 60' and went 9.564 @ 147.481

I dont have a scanner, but this is how it looks

60' 1.601
I2 4.174
I3 6.250
mph 119.038
et 9.564
mph 147.481

What do you guys think of these times? I know I need more seet time, I wish I could have made more passes. My goal for the night was to pull a 1.5x 60' on the stock wheel base, but maybe next time. I weighed 215 in shorts before I left for the track and I was running brocks street map with the filter in and 89 pump gas. Next time out I want to try the track map with the filter out and 87 or 89 pump gas. And will I pick up anything If I pull the baffle on the smeg? I didnt have time to try it. And the bike had 89 miles on it when I showed up at the track. Does the mph seem low?

You're doing a good job. I've been racing mine since April and I've yet to see a 1.6X 60' and I'm 62".

thats good for the first time racer, and yes you will pick up time by pulling the baffle out of the short meg i posted on your last thread, i ran all season with baffle out at track checked my plugs last month and they looked good. i ran with and without the baffle i usually gained 2 tenth difference with the baffle out!

Nice running rACer for not being on a bike in a bit..... Good luck as you move forward and continue dragging that 14.

PAZ, not saying it didnt work for you, but Brock's guys told me personally that removing the baffle does nothing to increase power, as they tested it land speed racing and didnt gain anything except sound.

Also Great times stock wheelbase for bigger guy!!!

Nice.

What is your prior bike racing experience? Obviously you have quite a few passes on something under your belt.

MPH seems ok, based on what I see at the track, and what you weigh.

Ive had a few gixxer 1k's that I used to take to the track some. But Ive been riding dirt bikes since I was a pee wee, so I think that helps a lot. Compared to the 1k's the 14 is much easier to get out of the hole. I didnt have the front end come up on me once last night.

Pulling the baffle on my bike got me nothing , i tried it a few times with no better ETs or MPH ....It does sound cool... Put in Brocks race map and run 87 octane fuel AND IF your track is clean pull the air filter or get BMC race filter ...

You did real good ... If you get your 60s down to 1.50 you will run some 9.30s ....

was running with the baffle in the beginning of the season, then around the third trip to the track i figured i would try pulling it to see if there was any difference, noticed a tenth at that time when i took it out. So i pulled it everytime at the track until a test and tune midseason i was running 9.8 all afternoon with it out, put the baffle in ran 4 passes couldnt break a 10 i lost mph, dont remember how much but i was shocked! i dont know if altitude or temp of that day had a hand in the numbers but i left it out the rest of the season. running 87 octane street map and plugs look good. I agree with you guys it shouldnt make any difference if anything hurt the performance due to lack of back pressure? am i right in my thinking? when spring comes im gonna mess around with it then again but ill be stretched and be dealing with whole new numbers.

214 lbs suited. I was running 9.23 at 146mph with 16/42 gears and bolt on's at 64". Smokin', however, could run 150mph on my bike. U4 gave me a couple mph and 9.20 flat. My best 1/8th mph on pump gas was 120mph. The only caveat was that this was in June down here n FL when the air is really bad.

I didn't mess around with U4 too much and never did remap for it, which I heard could net a couple more mph. For me, my 60's didn't come around until I went to 16/43 gearing.

Other than what you've already got, slap on some extensions, an air shifter, and a dry shot and you've got an 8 sec bike.
