How lean is too lean?

Hi there gang,

I didn't wanna derail the other thread, but comments about the 09 being more lean than my 08 had me concerned. Take a look at this dyno sheet, 08 versus 09.

Is the 09 in the danger for being too lean? Myself I like the 08 curve better, a bit on the safer side around 13.1.

Should I go in and have the fat bottom end mapped leaner and juicen up the leaner top end?

You are in no danger at 13.8 .... New cars run 14.2 or leaner .... Will 13.8 be the best for the track ? Most likely not ...... With ram air blasting down the track 12.9 to 13.1 works better ..

I like 12.6-12.8:1 based on a few very smart guys oppinions. 12.8 for best power, 12.6 for best acceleration
cars dont have the compression bikes do most of the time

I always thought the ideal theoretical stoichiometric air/fuel ratio for pump gas was 14.7 : 1 although most bike applications seem to stay on the right side of 14. (That's below 14:1)

it is but nothing is that efficient, and a little extra to keep things cool is allways a good(safe) idea

14.7 is only good for cruising for maximum fuel economy, and minimal emissions, but potentially danherous a WOT (this is in reference to NA only). 13.8 ish at WOT while not at all optimum, isn't dangerous either.
