Valentine 1 / Detector mounts in General..
Did a quick search and didnt bring up any pictures or thoughts in general on mounting radar detectors on a ZX14. I specificially like the Valentine one and would love to hear thoughts on how you guys might be mounting them. Some pictures of your setups would be nice too.

on a side note, these are among the very nicest after market mounts you'll find for the ZX14

v1 is old school...rx 65 and 9500i with gps are the ones to have.... perform great

Perhaps I am looking in the wrong place, however, I didnt find any pictures or suggestions on the mounts. I have the links to the various ram-mount and whatnot options but it would be really nice to get feedback and perhaps some pictures of what you guys are liking and seems to work well. Thanks!

again... see the link to "articles" on the menubar above? Click on it and find the techmount review as well as the radar shootout... and please dont drill holes in yer windscreen  .. very very unnecessary

The best radar detector is your eyes and then the best solution is your right hand twisting back. If a radar detector goes off he's got you anyways. They're worthless. I've had one before and most of the time they keep them OFF and then flip them ON fast when they see you so your detector doesn't pick them up before hand. See cop, twist wrist for the best ticket saver there is.  Within 1 minute you're on some back road cruising again. It only works outside of town! The countryside is the best productive way that the "twist the wrist" plan works. Right, left, left, right, left, right, right......GONE!

They are far from worthless - especially on the freeway with other traffic around you. Probably 8 out of 10 times the cop will spray someone else ahead of you with radar before he gets you.
With a good radar detector this can give you a 1/4mi or more of warning to get things back down to speed.

the troopers on the blue ridge parkway near deal's gap leave their radars on the whole way along the parkway.
the foothills parkway has some long sweepers and you can knee drag at triple the speed limit.
if I'd have had a radar detector, I may have avoided a chit chat. fortunately I did not get a ticket and still have a spotless record.

With a tank bag, a GPS mounted on the stem, the windshield was the only option. Very, very functional without degrading windscreen performance. At 2 to 3 fuel stops per ride, pulling a mount off of the fuel tank cap is not my idea of convenient.

nope... in this scenario stick velcro on your tankbag, stick radar detector on tankbag, GPS on techmount... same setup I use on the Busa & 14. Marsee tankbag has a nice clear plexi top.

With a tank bag, a GPS mounted on the stem, the windshield was the only option. Very, very functional without degrading windscreen performance. At 2 to 3 fuel stops per ride, pulling a mount off of the fuel tank cap is not my idea of convenient.
No, there are other altenatives. I use the stem mount pictured below, it just pushes down into the opening in your steering nut.
