Which is the BEST Radar/Laser Detector
Hi all,
It's springbreak here down South and I'm stuck at home after my drivers license got suspended for 45 days. I know that I was being reckless, driving way too fast when I got caught in a speed trap and that I did deserve this "punishment". What bothers me is that the Police officer that stopped me, told me that he was amazed that I did in fact stop, as all other speed bikers don't and they take off instead. Well the thing is that I do have my bike legal (i.e.: license plates in place), and I would like to buy me a Radar/Laser detector, so I would like to know which one you guys recommend for a ZX14.
Thanks in advance & Best Regards.
David

If the cop is using a laser, then the laser detector will only tell you when your busted...The laser works like a gun, when you pull the trigger at the target...
If they are using radar then any good radar dector will pick it up as the radar waves are constantly being sent out...

Thanks CR...in my case was a laser gun. So then a question pops up...what are the laser detectors good for if they work the way you mentioned?
Thanks & Regards,
David

You'll need a laser jammer or "shifter" as Escort calls it, along with a radar detector. Escort's top of the line detector is the 9500i for $450. I bought one today. It's not on my bike yet. Both Blinder and Escort make jammers. The jammer also takes care of photo tickets. They cost $450 as well and are permanently mounted to the bike.

Cant recall now: Too many beers
But i think you will find an 'ex' traffic Radar/Laser copper (US), on the web that does reviews on Laser/Radar detectors.
He basically tells you what does work and what doesn't - from HIS perspective!

Dam say it ain't so kikon, this is worser than when I found out christopher reeves was in a wheel chair. I think I have the best detector there is its the Dontstop2000. Its even comes with a guarantee providing you have enough gas in your tank. And enough cohonees too ....

LOL Derpie, wish I could just take off, but as I do like to ride legal (license plates, etc.) most likely the Police won't need to chase me other than read the plate and just wait for me outside my house. If that happens and cuz of the ol'Lady/wifey....most likely I will have to sell my bike or......divorce (which under certain circumstances might not be a bad idea ).
For her, I only recognized 110mph as the speed on the ticket.....the real one was 171mph......

Wow ok sir I was just giving my two cents , besides at those speeds a little more throttle and things get way smaller in my mirrors anyway. Glad your ok and in one piece most importantly.

Check out www.radarforbikes.com. I got a unit earlier this year and it has paid for itself several times already. Either CycleWorld or Motorcyclist (can't remember which) also recently gave it a favorable review.
