Installing the exhaust just takes time, all I had was basic tools and patience. No way I'd ever pay ANYONE to install my exhaust.

I have installed several exhuast before I had a lift with no issues at all. Don't understand why you would need a lift, I mean it does make it nice but not needed.

You guys have to understand... it is absolutely necessary for muzzy to own a lambo so that he can drive to the bank and withdraw all of the money that people throw at him.

I use a set of rear and front stands($99) to remove my pipes, plastics, tires, brakes, oil, etc.... A lift being needed is funny.
quote:Why do motorcycle owners continue to believe that almost a grand is a "Great Price" for an exhaust system??? ($999.00 for a Muzzy). Over $1500.00 for a Ti. What is wrong with us??? Looking at the materials involved, I fail to see WHERE any price over a couple of hundred dollars is justified?? Am I the only one that feels this way?
Full systems for a big block V-8's are HALF these prices and involve a lot more material and the same research and design.
Why do bike pipe manufacturers continue to rape us?
Because they can! A lot of bike riders want to do something to "improve"
their bike. A new exhaust is easy to do, but often doesn't do anything but emply
your pocket. Some of my bikes ran better with the stock cans.

You paying for race parts, not some flowmaster crap, zx14 is a full out race bike now go and get a system for brand new z06 and tell me how much it will cost you headers, xpipe and cat back, right around 3gs. Btw i got my Ti force for 600 used.
Exactly!

If you look at the quote immediately above, the "lift comment" was made in reference to the comparison of total costs for FULL EXHAUST for cars vs. bikes. Yes, I installed the Brocks on my 14. EZ!
Try getting a Z06, Mustang, or Z28 high enough in the air to crawl under and do a full exhaust without a lift.
Yes, I will concede that it *can* be done,
For me, it was worth it to pay someone to avoid having the car fall on me, to be able to preserve the stock catback without cutting it or having to drop the rear end, and being under the car for hours.

Chill on Muzzy fellas, he's on our side. Compare ANY of his pipes to his competitors that make similar power and he is hands down the low cost leader. Want an example?
06-08 KAWASAKI ZX14 MUZZY M14/M10 STNLS FULL EXHAUST OVAL
Price: $720.95
Complete exhaust system from engine to endcap
Large diameter M14 tapered headpipes
06-08 KAWASAKI ZX14 AKRAPOVIC FULL EXHAUST (Carbon Fiber muffler)
Price: $1,886.95
Retail: $2,074.95
Cylindrical shaped hydroformed header and link pipe are made of titanium.
Includes a lightweight temperature resistant carbon fiber muffler clamp.
Made by Europe's premier exhaust manufacturer with numerous world titles
Nice comparison, eh? And Muzzy *claims* the M14/M10 combo makes the best power of any system out there(peak and across the midrange). From what I've seen on dyno's and the street, I dont doubt them. Yeah, everyone might have one and the Akropovic or whatever exotic sounding expensive exausts out there might be cool sounding and rare, but I don't have the money to waste just to be different.
I'll let my differences between me and them show up in my fading license plate.

Muzzy's ARE less expensive and as good as or better than most pipes, granted. But they are STILL a few hundred dollars above what they are WORTH. Just my opinion.

Sticks...............you cheated on that one bud. You are comparing a stainless steel Muzzy to a Titanium Akrapovic system. Granted the Akro is more expensive and who knows about the hp comparisons........( I have not seen one comparo with an Akro ) but you could have compared the Muzzy Ti system to the Akro Ti system or the Akro stainless to the Muzzy stainless..............:P ____________

sticks, a comparable example (in terms of material used) would be the $1500 muzzy titanium + carbon fiber exhaust. do your homework and make fair comparisons instead of misleading people.
muzzy even makes a titanium "gp style" system for $1650 - id like to see pics of that.

Yes........exhaust systems are expensive. But we all buy them with hopes of a performance gain. That being said, it's my opinion that the best value for most of us and our hard earned dollar is Brock's exhaust systems. Brocks pipes, along with the absolute best support and customer service in the marketplace, put them #1 in my book.
quote:lets just say this about akro exhausts - they're expensive but you get what you pay for!
SInce when????? Since when are you "getting what you paid for" if they dont make more power, and cost 2-3 times as much?!?! Dont go throwing in your perceptions, I'm talking cold hard numbers here. 15-20hp are to gain from a Muzzy for $700, or $900? for a Brocks. Tell me exactly HOW a $2200 Ti exhaust is going to help you "get what you pay for"?? Admit it, you just want the exhaust because its expensive and rare. No problem with that, every one wants to be different and if they got it ($), flaunt it.
I can see going with a Ti or better yet a carbon fiber can for weight savings at the cost of a few hundred more to lose a couple pounds, but there is no justifiable need for a Ti header/midpipe. The stainless steel Muzzy I got couldn't weight more than a couple pounds to begin with. When you get so nitpicky that your weight savings go into the OUNCES of weight that you would save for hundreds of dollars spent you better be racing that bling machine...
quote:Sticks...............you cheated on that one bud. You are comparing a stainless steel Muzzy to a Titanium Akrapovic system.
No, I was just showing the extremes is all. Near $1500 difference for the same performance. Yeah the Ti system might save you maybe 2 pounds overall. But you wont get the power of a Muzzy or Brocks either, so its a wash. An expensive wash.
MotoGP and WSB are bikes making in excess of 200hp all on the stock displacement motors. Meaning the rev to hell. Pipe makers like Brocks and Muzzy are meant for closer to stock cams and RPM ranges, and dont have the extreme sustained heat of a WSB race either. That being said, I think the best street systems would do decent on a WSB bike. Just not perfect like the specially tuned pipes they use.

Tool Man huh? "Tool" being the operative word I guess.
Yes sir.... If ya were not such a pansy... maybe you could too.
Limited production runs are expensive. You can afford a 12,000 dollar bike. I think you can afford 800 -1200 for a pipe ... If not here some alt. rides for ya..

If that exhaust suits the buyers need better, that's how.
Ultimate performance means different things to diffferent people. A simple peak hp number doesn't tell you too much about the pipe. Build quality, power curve, weight, sound, looks, etc. all play a part in determing the "worth" of a system.
If I could get a system that was 10 lbs. less than my current one, with equal performance, and pay $500 more...I would. It would be worth it to me. Maybe for someone else, not. That is just an example.

Is there really anything wrong with running the stock exhaust? I'm so damn confused on which exhaust is the best overall value as in 'price to performace gain' I may just go get a tunning session so the bike runs at its peak as is and call it good.

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with stock. Some people (like me) are addicted to "playing with" their bikes. The change I made was 90% governed by sound. I'm anal about having a certain "sound" to all my bikes. I like an aggressive, throaty, growl. Even if the pipe I put on didn't improve performance it would stay if it sounded better than one that did. I don't race anymore and for street performance, the ZX-14 has more power than anyone could fully use (ON THE STREET).

Not to say some of us don't ride REALY hard. But IF you really used ALL the bike had for the first 4 gears, how do you keep it from flipping over backwards from a power wheelie? What I mean to say is that there is more power on tap than is FULLY useable without lighting the tire and breaking traction OR wheel standing it.
