Lowered and Back RearSets.

Ok, so I did the search thing and found a few threads talking about rearsets, nothing to any major conclusion except the following ...

1. Buell Peg Mod seems to work ok. Only drops, doesn't move back.
2. Vortex seems to install no problem over Sato's.
3. Sato's appear to be finer quality, but install probs, brake switch, heel guards.
4. Pipe/Heel issues with all of them lowered.

I've done the Buell mods on my 08 ZX-14 and would be ok with doing ti again, but I'd thought I'd poll the gang here to see if anything new came up.

Questions ...

The Muzzy Carbon can on the M14 header "appears" to have more gap between the middle pipe and the footpeg. Anyone confirm? (Over the M10 Mega)

Local shop says Vortex can go 2 inches down and back. Reading the instructions here doesn't seem like it could ... (look at pics, only a few holes lower and back.)

http://www.vortexracing.com/clientuploads/RS441_print.pdf

Anyone max out the lowering of any sets and are joyed over the outcome? I'm grasping for any 1/4 inch gain I can get.

Lower and Back is easier on the hips right?

Thanks,

-Bonzai

KawaBonzai,

Most of the Sato mount post issues probably came from me. They were the first set I've installed. The Satos are great quality and come pre-assembled. You just need to set them were you want them then locktite everything.

It turned out that the brake pressure switch was fine, but it was the two wires for the brake light for the connectors that were touching after I taped them off, leaving the rear brake on continously. All I had to do was to tape them off separately before taping them together with electrical tape and all was fine. Of course I tried the most difficult solution first instead of testing for the easy ones, which led me to have to bleed the brakes several times with the different pressure switches.

I have Arata and love them, but I'm back and up. Had problem with heals on mids even with stock. There are a couple companys that make oval guards in different colors that fit perfect. I got the faster black ones.
