close call
while taking a sunday ride I entered the local interstate on ramp and took my zx up to 70 in second gear ....with brock pipe on...as I merged with traffic I looked to my left and found a little old lady in a big buick about 2 inches from my knee in the same lane. how do you miss a red zx1400 and a big rider with a loud pipe.she had no idea that i was there as she could not see over the top of the steering wheel. i managed to get behind her ..I figured it was safer than In front of her and waited for traffic to clear and then pulled up along side her and waived to her she still did not even look at me. I have been riding for 45 years and this makes me want to sell my bike and give up the sport. they just dont get it .they will run you down and not even stop to see what they hit

Nobody likes to get ran over. I have been very fortunate in the years I've ridden to have had little or no incident. I dont think anyone is so skillful on a bike that they are immune to getting squished. This shows me to never take for granted just a ride across town or getting on the freeway in particular. My brother has had numerous situations and has 30+ yrs on a bike with many years with at least 10K miles a year.
My point is remember why you like to ride. The bike your / we are on is what youve been waiting for (to ride).( ie 45 yrs huh?) I dont know how we choose this bike AND expect safety? This bike takes riding to a new level and with it comes trouble to a degree. take this incident with a grain...remember what youve gotten away with already. Be thankful you were looking and watching!
Look out for blue hairs. Everybody they know is dead already. Thats gotta have an affect on the i dont give a chit meter.

yeah man it does. Here in Atlanta with gas as crazy as it is or was. I was pulling into the pump and some asshole call himself trying to be first. He came around the pump on two wheels and almost hit me head on. Scared the shit out of me I grabbed a hand-full of front brake and almost flipped but i caught it and had to calm down. When i asked him what the hell he was doing, He said he thought it was an empty spot and wanted to get there before anyone else in line saw the pump open. He didn't see me. SOB!!!!!

your right.... it was a blue hair.dont they have to take a test to keep driving..she had to see me or hear me... from now on I merge WITH TRAFFIC AT 90 MPH .....let them give me a ticket I dont give a damm. I drive very defensive but the road Im now is the road that I own. if any body enters my space with out me letting them is in for a world of shit from me. I am very polite to all drivers on the road just dont try to kill me with your car and all that left hand turn crap ...sorry officer I didnt see him just wont fly in my book . or the guy in the thats 6 inches behind you when you are going the speed limit. Ive stopped in the middle of the road before and gotten off my bike...not the smartest thing to do ....and asked the car behind me if they got a problem. Im 6 foot 6nch and 280 lbs of all muscle . and I carry a lic. firearm that I will use if I feel that My life is in danger or my family. most people say sorry. I then give them the speech about giving all motorcycles some respect on the road as we are not all bad asses and wanted by the law. but honest hard working americans that pay their taxes and just want to enjoy the sport of motorcycling and live to see another day

It's fucking ridonkulous here in san diego. At least once a day, I grab ahand full of clutch and a wrist full of throtle to let someone know that they're coming into my lane lol. I try to ride 15-20 mph faster than everyone so that it's my fault if I get into a sticky situation, but sometimes you just can't do that. My favorite is the person that sees you splitting lanes, and tries to cut you off while you're already beside them. I knocked a bimmers mirror of a while back because of that.

I just talked to my cousin today about this...He had a story of getting ran off the road. this lady made eye contact and then moved right into his lane causing him to go to the shoulder. several people saw this and called the state patrol which he didnt know about. He called when he got home and they said several people called. They asked him if he wanted to press charges and he did. He did have her license plate BTW. She was summons into court and was loud and obnoxious and said "motorcycles have no right to be on the road. quote" they are all bums and shouldnt be aloud on the road". The judge saw it very differently and gave her 30 days in jail for attempted vehicular homocide. She threw a fit and the judge threatened her with a second month. She was escorted out of the courtroom to her crowbar hotel. true story. ride offensively it might save your life

I love that!!! I'm glad the woman got what she deserved. So many people out there have that attitude towards motorcycles. Someone on this site wrote in a thread a while back, that people do not 'not' see motorcycles, as they always claim. They see them, but discount them in their thought processes because mc's are smaller and no threat to them. How often have you heard of someone say, "Oh, I didn't see that eighteen wheeler".
When I had my XX, I was in the left lane in a line of cars moving slowly up to a stop light on a service road. The old woman in the huge car next to me just moved right into me. I kept going as far left as I could while this woman kept coming...and looking straight at me. I ended up going up the curb and onto my left side. Luckily, it was only dirt, but rocks in the dirt scratched up my fairing pretty bad. People tried to chase her but got cut off. Very frustrating.
