Frame Fitting Gasket

When I pulled the tank cowl off a gasket fell to the ground. After searching through BikeBandit images it appears to be an airbox seal (PN 92093-1507). Can anyone tell me the significance of this seal; it appears it was never installed at the factory. What problems may result if it is kept off?

Are you sure the gasket is part # 92093? That gasket is from the airbox covers directly above the secondaries. You should not see them when removing the tank cowl. It should be necessary to raise the fuel tank and remove the airbox covers before accessing these gaskets.

If they are not installed you may be pulling in unfiltered air from beneth the fuel tank.

That is the gasket. Looks like someone left off on install. Feels like the bike is running lean. Would this air commining in under the tank be monitored and the A/F ratio adjusted by the ECU?

Since you have already taken the tank cowl off my suggestion would be to remove the four bolts holding the fuel tank on. At this point you can lift your tank high enough to get access to the airbox covers without having to take it off. At this point your only a few screws away from reinstalling your gasket. This should eliminate any concern on pulling in dirty air.

Hopefully nothing else was forgotten during assembly. Now is your chance to check it out.

I'm not sure about the ECU adjusting your A/F ratio. I can tell you that I run a PCIII and changed my map when installing the filter and full exhaust.

Maybe someone else can chime in.

Rubber air filter cover (seal) comes to mind. Correct place and could come off easily if the tabs weren't in correct. Without a pic were all guessing.
