Mounting Shifter Solenoid/Location?
I was wondering where everyone is locating their air shifter solenoids? I plan to mount mine directly to the ram...in the off season. I would like to mount it under the seat area right now, but was wondering if that is too far away.
The general consensus seems to be to mount the solenoid as close to the ram as possible. It seems to me that if you don't have any air leaks it should still work ok mounted a couple of feet away.

mine is right behind the gill on the right side. cut 16" of hose and use that as the max away from the ram

On the ram. Only place to put it.
Its a speed thing. You want it as close as possible. I spoke with the companies that make the stuff, ...........

Obviously that is the preferred location. But I need to get the cylinder machined to make it fit the way I want it to; I don't have time to get that done before Friday.
I'll do the best I can with what I have....

Mines next to the battery ...Never missed a shift or had a so called slow shift ... It's only 4 or 5 inches of hose .

I didn't even think of that...under the tank in the compartment, to the left of the battery, correct?

Yes ... There is a hole in the bottom of the battery box to run the hose out of .. It's pretty handy ...

Mines under the tank by the battery with the red "bleed" button facing down. After finishing, its easy to bleed it down through the solenoid.

You should not have to allow more time to shift as long as you stay within 16" like 06 said. On the cylinder is of course best for function because you can actually start to decrease kill time, I just don't care for the look, no offense guys. You can go from 65 milli-seconds down to as little as 40 milli-seconds with it on the cylinder.
