Does the can really matter?

So ...

I'm still breaking in the Green machine and I'm almost loving the quietness of ride with the stock exhaust compared to the mighty decibels of the M14 / M10 combo.

It got me to thinking ... does the can on the end really matter ... in HorsePower gain/loss.

I remember Brock stating that it was only a 1-2 hp gain by going from oval/carbon to the SMEG or AlienHead.

With this new 09 being "Candy Lime Green / Black", I thought a Muzzy M14 header with their Carbon can would look nice, in keeping with the Green/Black theme.

Anyonehave stats on cans, or is all the power gain from the header alone?

The front part of the header has the most to do with making power . The can has the smallest to do with HP ...If i had a problem with my bike being to loud ( and I don't ) I would get Brocks Gen 3 with the oval can ...

Here are two bikes done by Greg at HPC (Hyperbike Performance Centers). They both have blacked out Ti-Force exhausts, and look great. Ti-Force makes great power as well, and they are pretty quiet.

This combo would look smoking hot on a green 09!!!!!!

gilberjj & kawabonzai- Both of those TForce exhaust looks awesome! Outside of ceramic coating my Brocks S-meg, I would easily pick this exhaust instead...I wonder what kind of gains they give. Keeping that pipe black really flows well cosmetically with most of our 14s(The white limited edition maybe exempt). I concur, that pipe with your Green/Black 09 14 will be killer!!!!

That yellow and black 14 in the background looks cool, too. Can we see more of it?

My vote goes to Brocks gen 3 can, that's what I just put on my new 06 and it has a very melow sound but runs just as good at the track as my smeg did.

I was once told that the loudness of one's exhaust or the height of his truck is inversely proportional to the size of his penis--

That's why I have the "mini-me" smeg--

i could care less where people buy their stuff..... for technical things, i come here, and i check out zx14.net too. i have no ties to them, and i simply posted pics and told ppl where they were from. and "countersteer", the exhausts are ceramic coated, not powdercoated. it cuts down on the heat

When Brian at Quantum did my ZX-14 the final tuning was done with my Brock street oval system. Out of curiosity we tried fitting a street meg. Final result was no change in HP or TQ. The dyno curves were practically identical. Less noise same power, thats a winner in my book.

Brock's states the same thing himself. The can does not matter. Everything bolted up to the ehader produced within 1hp. of each other.
