Power add-on options

I'm planning on putting in my request to Santa for this year and looking for feedback from members who currently run these options.

1) Nitrous: lots of options/manufacturers and relatively cheap initial cost. Big negative for me is the severely limited options for re-filling the bottle in my area. My research leads me to believe that the max power gain is 50 hp on stock motor internals (would put me at about 225 hp total). I am concerned about changing plug temperature and timing for the nitrous will make the bike un-ridable under non-race conditions.
2) Turbo: Limited options, significantly higher initial cost. Appears to be biggest gain in hp on stock motor internals (average claim is about 270 hp at 6 lbs of boost). Am I correct in hearing that the added pressure is tearing the air-box filter resulting in it going through the motor?
3) Head work: A couple specialty shops are claiming 215+ hp from porting, valve work etc. I have the least amount of information on this option with respect to the plus/minus of going this direction.

The option I end up with will be run on stock motor/clutch internals. I'm reasonably capable with a wrench, but by no means a professional mechanic so reliability is extremely important. I still intend to ride the bike on the street but will make 1/4 mile runs each week during the race season here.
Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Do a 2mm overbore head/cams run a second fan,and you have a high 8 second capable bike thats as streetable as the stocker. Its not the most power for the buck[nos] but given the perimeters you laid out'' i think you will be happy with this setup. Bill..

I have been running a 50hp dry shot for 2 years now. No changes to the motor, stock plugs and timing. Map it and go riding, this is something you can do yourself in your garage with a basic set of tools. As far as filling bottles, call around to your local weld supply shops that is where I get mother bottles. You have to change nothing to be streetable, I get home from the track and air up the tire (if I remember) and put the stock seat back on. I am at 8k on the odometer and have no problems related to nitrous. I installed a 40 shot on a guys bike almost five years ago and still see him at the track. The only problem I see with the bike after all these years is it is a Busa!! I have had a turbo bike and they are great as long as you are willing to put in the time wrenching on them, I would rather be racing.

Lee's cycles in san diego build some stupid fast drag and roadrace bikes. I was up at their shop and saw a 14 that had a smeg, portwork, re degreed cams, and a custom map laying down 195hp consistently on their very stingy dyno.

Lee's in san diego charges 1100 just for the porting. That's if I take them my head.

I'm sure that it would be beneficial... if you have the money for it. Maybe smokin can shed some light on the subject.

Shouldn't the air filter go on the front of the turbo? That would make the normal filter redundant.

Who does the best headwork? I think a couple grand is reasonable for headwork/cams/valves. someday id like to put down over 200hp.
