Zx-14 or Hayabusa ?

So my friend is buying a 09 Hayabusa, I was thinking of upgrading my 07 ZX -14 to an 09 ZX-14. So all things considered, if everything is on a equal playing field, which do you think would be faster?

these bikes are both so fricken close to one another the faster one is gonna be the one with the better rider. Pick the one that fits you better. Busa has a better after market, but not everyone has a 14 and they just look cool! ride on!

Honestly dude you would be taking a large hit on the resale value if you do that. If you removed your flies and upgraded your exhaust already then save your bones because you are basically riding a 09’ now. If you want an appearance upgrade then have your bike professionally painted and it will be like riding a brand new one all over again.

Thanks for all your input, you guys are right, I will hold on to my 07. I have the blue one and I like it more than the 09 colors. I will wait for a major change...

I think that is a wise decision. You still have the fastest bike on the market!

The busa is more mod friendly........

If someone ever steals my 12, I will buy a busa, just because of the aftermarket.......

No removable jugs on the 14. and you can get your body way lower in the busa.

I love my 12, and it runs very hard, but right now, i want a set of set back triples, and no one makes any........., etc.

2010 is the year of changes or upgrades. Many of the Busa upgrades are standard on the 14 like a big clutch, larger crank , hefty transmission, no vibration, etc.etc. And as far as the cooling goes and all those extra fans and stuff............put it on a dyno full custom map and no more heating problem. Won't go above the third bar in 5:30 stop and go traffic at 102 degrees. Busa is a fine machine......for 1999.

Whatever you can buy for a busa you can buy for a zx14 ...Only mod a Busa has over a zx14 is the removable block .. That is a plus if you are thinking big bore .... If you are thinking stroker you have to split the cases on both of them .. The zx14 right out of the crate just add a P/C and pipe , drop it with some dog bones and drop the forks in the tripple trees and you are ready to race ...The Busa needs a few more things out of the crate like an upper tripple tree to drop the front end and most also spend the money on a Brocks clutch mod ..If you add some HD clutch springs you will need a clutch slave cover support also .. If you add a few inches of wheel base to the Busa you can't drop it as much in the rear because the tire will wipe out the tail lite ..

My point is if you are going to leave the engine alone the zx14 is just a bit cheaper to hit the strip with ....While i don't see many 08 busas at the strip yet, the few i have seen seem to run pretty much like my zx14 with a good light weight rider .... I myself would have no problem owning a Busa if i didn't have to look at it , its got the power but the looks kill it for me...I like the older Busas better......

If you like the '09 colors, buy the complete set of plastics when they hit the consumer market.

I have an 07 14 and an 08 busa. Both are great bikes! 14 is a little more comfortable to me, Busa handles bettor. You should take the flies out of the 14 or it feels a little slugish down low...Pick the one you like it's a no lose situation.

A little sluggish down low??? Boy are you being nice First gen 14's are pigs down low with the flies in.......the true gutless wonders of the bike world. But pull those flies and map accordingly and they get freaky fast from the bottom up :o

it's a tough call... I've had both (currently have the 'busa in the garage) ...pluses and minuses for both... it's not an easy choice by any means - will be publishing a full report soon!

i have both, 06 14&08 busa, top end feels the same, but i like 14 clutch better, the 08 has feels to pk up speed a lil quicker, but not much, realy on rider,i just left hattisburg this past week, 08's busa an 14 look good, but if i had a choice i 'll pk 14 for 2 reasons, handles better ,just easy to lunch,an everybody&thier moma got a busa,an square they the fastest bikes, they not,the 14 just 2yr's old, an don't have that cult following like tha busa.
