Frigging Ebayer

Imagine this. An Ebay seller had a complete exhaust listed for a ZX14. Said it was in good condition and had only been on a bike for 200 miles. Looked great in the pictures. I bid and won it. Yesterday the mufflers arrived. WTF??? Huge dent on the rear cap of one muffler and huge dent on the front cap of the other muffler. Also several smaller dents, scuffs and scrapes. Boy was I pissed !! Funny how the mufflers are situated in the Ebay pictures so the dents dont show. They are so bad I would be embarrassed to put them on my bike. The headers havent arrived yet but I can imagine what they will look like.

Anyway, I filed a claim with Paypal and hope to recover my money. I emailed the seller and he said> I DIDNT SAY THEY WERE PERFECT !!! I buy a lot on Ebay and get some really good deals on used parts but every once in awhile I run in to a deadbeat like this guy. GRRRRRRRR...I wish he lived closer so I could pay him a personal visit.

Any of you guys have similar Ebay stories ???

Ebay story...

I bought a trunk for my prelud eon E-bay....the guy sent it and all he did was bubble wrap it and it came all damaged. He lived 1500 miles from me...sucks. I got a quote to get it fixed at a body shop for how much it cost to fix. I asked him to send me the difference and he said o.k.

He sent me a personal check that bounced....it bounced twice! I ended up having to go out of state for work for 2 weeks. When I looked at his personal check...his house was 30 miles from my hotel!!! So on a saturday I took a special trip to his house.

Upon arriving at the address on the check that saturday morning...I knocked on the door, a guy answered and I said, "Hi...I am the guy that bought a trunk lid from you on e-bay and your check bounced twice...I am here to return your check and get cash for the amount to fix the trunk and the amount I had to pay for the bounced check."

The guy just STARED at me....he looked scared (he was half my size). He said once second....heard him yelling at someone inside....then 2 minutes later he came out with the money in cash and I said thank you and handed him his check and was on my way.

As I was walking away I told him do not screw with people on e-bay because they might just be like me and pay you a personal visit no matter the distance.....

I felt good that day......hope I saved some other people from getting scammed.

Rich-that's funny what you mentioned above!

Street racer- Man there's no feeling like getting mislead and money spent on junk! I think if you move forward on what you stated above, "Anyway, I filed a claim with Paypal and hope to recover my money" this would be a good start. I'm a firm believer to go thru the proper channels but you reserve the right to get disorderly if that doesn't work... Good luck either way...

In all fairness I have received some really good deals on Ebay along with the scammers. I got a complete rear wheel for my ZX14 along with a mounted barely used tire, sprocket, brake rotor, axle and spacers for $100 including shipping. 90% of my purchases have been great its that other 10% that are frustrating.

i got a scratched rear seat cover on ebay, cleverly enough none of the pics revealed any problems, when i bitched they said thats what the insurance is for, it must have happened during shipping. the damage wasn't super bad but i felt gyped none the less. buyer beware on ebay.

I bought a magazine article for 10 dollars where they tested the comet gt back in 71. When the guy found out that I was in the military he told me that he couldn't take my money and shipped it for free.

Got a perfect right side. Left can has little scuff that could be buffed out, but pipe has a dent that could be cut out and tig'd or cut off completely and replaced with your good pipe. Will send you every pic/angle/close up you want. 6M resolution. Previos owner ran over something and dented header and L pipe. Replaces with Yosi slip ons and hid/didnt mention the dent in the header and belly pan.

funny stuff Rich! I laughed outloud at dark-thirty and woke up the cat. I can bet the world's largest stock pile of stock exhaust in perfect shape is right here on this site... full set hanging in my garage.
Ive had pretty good luck on ebay. I bought a posi unit for a 14 bolt and it ended up being like the one i already had. fuzzy pics. The old man from Nantucket ( I hate the childhood nursery rhymes) anyway, the old man hadnt a clue how to answer questions. I sold it on ebay right away.

You're safe if you used Paypal. By default they honor the buyer's claim and a seller has to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that their ad included a description of all faults. Even then Paypal will generally side with the buyer. If the pipe is repairable or you think you can live with it, you can always make an offer, say you'll keep the pipe and cancel the dispute if the seller agrees to refund 50% of the price.

Yeah! If he replied, "I didn't say they were perfect!", after you told him the condition you received them in and did not deny the knowledge of the damage, then you could use that along with the copy he placed on Ebay that shows his "purposely" placed items intending to deceive the buyer. F*CK*ng CRETIN!!!!

Good news !!! Got a full refund from the seller and he doesnt want to pay to have the mufflers and header shipped back. I offered him a partial settlement as the headers finally arrived and they were okay but instead he gave me a full refund. Sure paid to get Paypal involved.
Since the entire system is sitting here I put it on the scale and it read 44 pounds. That was header and 2 mufflers with mid pipes attached. Each muffer with midpipe weighed 16 pounds and the header 12 pounds. Its not a calibrated scale so it may be off by a pound or two but I was surprised how heavy it was.

A full Muzzy M14/M10 (aluminum oval can) weighs only a few pounds. I could and did pick it up easily with just my pinky finger- the entire assy! I was completely amazed how light a stainless steel header assy could be... I know the other top notch exhausts like Brocks and Yoshimura's are about equal in weight to mine, too.

Street racer-good news on your outcome....However all would agree that the stock pipes are noticeably heavy, thus reason why we all substituted for after market full system(Brock,Muzzy,etc..).Ride safe!
