Poll Question:
What if Kawasaki made a DragRace ZX14???

I think a real 1400cc DOT approved ZX14 engineered by and for DragRacers would be a big hit !!!...Yes it would make a great street bike, it's just purpose built for DragRacing...

What do you think???

Discuss!!!

I say Yes, I would definately buy one since I DragRace...

It would be nice to have The Kawasaki ZX14 very competitive and be # 1 over Suzuki's Hayabusa...

Since law enforcement is coming down hard on sport bikers, increased automobile traffic and the disregard drivers of cars have towards motorcycles, conditions of the roads getting worse, the increasing popularity of DragRacing on the strip as more and more bikers becoming responsible and saving themselves alot of trouble by keeping the racing and high speed riding off the streets!!!

Well it's what i want ....... Give me 60 to 62 inch wheel base ... Drop some weight .... Make it 1399 CCs .... Change the drain plug to the back of the pan so it can be slammed from the factory .. It would be easy for mother Kawi to do this .... It would have to come with stock exhaust to meet emissions but as allway we toss that crap anyway ..

I'm thinking even if we want it Kawi has no real need to build it .. The zx14 and Busa are pretty much dead even in power and speed and i'm sure Kawi doesn't want to get in cold war with zooky ..I think Kawi has pleanty on it's plate revamping the zx10 every two years to keep up with everybody else ..

I talked to the zook and kawi dealers this week and they are NOT selling bikes ... They are selling 250 cc bikes if they can get there hands on them ...But the big bore bike are collecting dust on the show room floor ...Kawi dealer has 10 08 zx10s in the crate and the 09s are on there way ...I just don't see kawi building a drag bike with a limited market and sales in the crapper ...

They might build a nekked bike like the B king for the euro market and with any luck maybe the us market will get it also ...It would be nice to have a zrx1400 to compete with the new Vmax and B king ...

We will know next week if they upgraded the zx14 at the dealer show ... It's possible that they made some changes to the zx14 because the dealer has no info on the 09 zx14 but they have info on all the other models ...Maybe kawi is going to sucker punch the Busa again , one could only hope.....

Hmm... Kinda looks like the original Ninja. (I love to use that term). Well, almost the original. That was the '85 look.

Why not Smokin, DragRace guys are still going to buy big cc bikes...

So why shouldnt Kawasaki make us a purpose built Drag Bike, you know they wont sit on the dealers floor!!!

Also, all the manufacturers are making road race replicas as street bikes, so why not a purpose built DragRace bike...Kawasaki already knows what we like, want, need and what really works in certain applications...All they have to do is put a couple dozen together and give them out to be tested!!!

Suzuki would end up doing the same...

So if the end of big cc bikes is a reality then a purpose built DragRace ZX14 and Busa will still sell!!!

If you want a big cc to ride on the street then buy the Concours and as Smokin said if the cost of gas gets even higher then smaller bikes will sell even more and everyone is happy!!!

Repli racers can still be used on the street. A purpose built dragbike would have issues on the open roads wheelie bars and a big flat racing slick are not conducisive to turning. Hell, lots of folks would swap the slick, pull the bars and have a 14-ish bike anyway. If they built a dragbike, I know damn good and well, I'd be riding it on the street too.

with AMA Dragbike trying to take pro-stock back to its roots, now would be a great time to sell one! slick, bars, race fuel only, no power adders. that would be really fun!! and consistant too!!

why should harley be the only one to pull it off?!

It wouldn't sell very well, because of how much they would want you to pay for it. Why pay the money when there are already fast bikes out there for a cheaper price that you can build? All though I could see a new 1400 or larger eliminator that has everything smokin talked about making pretty good sales. It just has to be the fastest bike on the market. It saddens me that yamaha couldn't get it right with the new max. - have the feeling that they just ruined 22 years of tradition in vain.

I'd like to see 1399cc ,removable block,, modded oil pan, modded undertail and swingarm
to allow the zx14 to sit closer to the ground, like the Busa.

Take the current zx14 (06-08), add bolt-ons, Brock pipe, PC, slam & gear it, and you
have a low 9/ high 8 second motorcycle. A basic nitrous kit has put many in the 8's.
Maybe you're a fat kid and can't make it do it , but the bike is ready. Open your eyes this is a drag bike! One hour to change sprockets and raise it up and you have a very nice bike for you and the lady to make a weekend ride.

I"m not talking about a wheelie bar 14, like what Harley did for the v-rod !!!

I'm talking a DOT no bar bike made from the factory with a redesigned frame, de-rake, motor close to front wheel, a motor that has about 15 more HorsePower with input from guys like Rickey Gadson, Ryan Schnitz, Chip Ellis, Coby Adams, Bob Carpenter, Muzzy, Steve Rice, Seb Domingo, Mikey Slowe...

What I mean here is a bike that you can put a air shifter on and bolt patterns are all ready set up...Install Nitrous and never have a shifting problem or bend a valve...a 2inch oil pan from the factory...small front fender designed for being slammed...dual fans with a on/off switch...easy to read analog tach dead center with a digital speedo, temp display, oil pressure, fuel guage, all in numbers, a bright shift light, gas tank designed for being leaned on and comfortable, lower, thinner more forward seat position...

And what ever else you guys can come up with that we would need to make the 14 DragRacer friendly...
