Bike less and want to come back

Well after 5 today I should be bike less, and want to get a 14 again. No complaints from my busa untill turbo install. I feel the 14 is a little quick from 1/8 mile on due to the better ram air. We have an 8.90 class starting up next year and that is where I want to run. Couple good deals on the board righ now but everything is so far away from me. may take a road trip. LOL

Well I went turbo which was a mistake. Bike was flawless before the turbo could make 20 runs in a night no issues, after turbo went to the track 4 times and made 1 pass and even on that on the clutch still slipped the whole way. took the fun out of it. it stretched a ZZZ chain so bad it was about to fall off the bike. Learned if you want to go turbo you need another 3000 to 4000 on top of the kit to bullet proof everthing and do it right with secondary injectors instead of the fmu that don't stay set. and should back cut the tranny and the list goes on. If you just want to street ride it was not bad. I just parted with it before I hurt the motor and had to spen another 1500 to 2000 just to fix it cause that's money you never get back!

I'm damn sure looking forward to having you back on a 14. Where are you located?

Best of luck finding a new ride--the best priced ones are always about 1600 miles+ away from me....

Man i see alot of guys getting turbo's and we have been doing them a long time and i think to myself,i sure hope they know what their getting into. Bently has hit the mark with his post guys,if your not willing to spend a lot of money for up grading the drive train, leave the turbo's to the one's who can afford to do their own work. Glad to see you stayed here with us bently, Bill...

the 14 is a great platform, smokin has over 800 passes and finally had to change a plug, and mine takes all the street flogging i can dish out and still amazes me. me and my 06 will celebrate our two year anniversary this month, and i still run the original plugs. there may be some new tricks to learn with the newer ones but still a great bike, but you know that. good to hear from you. your last few bikes were sharp.

Oh there was nothing wrong with the busa before the turbo, I went 9.29 at 150 And I'm 215 in gym shorts and that was at 59 3/4 inch wheelbase.Had 193 runs on stock clutch then it went out from the turbo. Both bikes are great! I just want a 14 partly becuase around here there is not any at the tracks it's all Busa's Hell last week just at a test and tune there where 8 08 Busa's there and I was not one of them.

I hear ya Bently...

Imagine a 14 with a turbo and whats involved with that since there isn't enough R & D with the turbo 14s !!!

Ya if you want A STREET bike, I would not do a stage 1 kit again for the track.I put 400 miles on it on the street with no issues.

The issues with the 14 are the relatively weak valve springs and the pistons are not very stout for boosted applications. Also, the transmission as it comes from the factory has no undercut on the gears, per Mark at R&D.

I did not mean you didn't work on your own bikes, just the opposite I have followed your posts on the 14 and the busa. You have the knowlege to build a turbo and maintane it, so imagine what happens to the guys that dont know how to work on one. This is my point. They can be a pita to keep tuned,im just glad to see someone be honest about it no matter what bike it is. The new busa is a hellava bike'' so is the 14 but throw a turbo on either one and they are completely differint beasts. Bill...

With you guys on the turbo, been there, done that, and then sold that. I screwed up a perfectly good 04 zx10 with a turbo. I race a range of tracks that vary from outstanding to launching in gravel and its nice to just unplug the solenoid and be back to stock motor.
