Track runs
I am interested in running some ΒΌ mile runs at Atco or Englishtown. How do I get started and what is the process to register?

Just show up on the race day! Check their website for dates, and when you get to gates tell the attendent that your there to run street bike. They will tell you where to go. You will then have to go to a little building called tech. They will check that you have a helmit/gloves leathers and numbers on the bike so the tower knows who you are! The tracks you have listed will require full leathers, which you should want to wear anyway. Hope this helps but its real easy and have fun /good luck you will be hooked once you go....... Bill

If you don't have a set of leathers and don't want to spend the money on them just yet, you can always check around for 1/8th mile tracks. Most of them don't require leathers unless you go really fast. The first half of the 1/4 is the important part anyway

As Bill said, You need leather jacket and pants, boots over the ankle, leather gloves, snell & dot approved helmet and ignition cut off cord - that can be made from a coil key chain and a small sheet metal screw connected to the red ignition off switch...
If you go faster than 10.0 and or 125mph then you will need to take your test for the NHRA motorcycle DragRace License, the paper work you need is available in the tower @ RacewayPark, Englishtown, NJ...
When you pull up to the gate @ Englishtown, tell them motorcycle test / tune...$ 30 then go straight to the tech shack with a valid drivers license and tell them you run 10.50s...They will check out your equipment...
The next best day to go for bikes is saturday September 20, 2008 which is The Orient Express Top Street Bike points series event, which usually has about 30+ bikes present...You dont need to be signed up for the points to compete...Or You can buy a test / tune tech card and make your time runs with all the bikes!!!
Just go and have fun, I guarrentee you will be hooked...Look for my blue zx12 and introduce yourself...i'll go over the burnout, staging, timing lights, finish line, turn off at the end of the track, and where to get your timeslip...
See you on September 20th @ Englishtown...
Dont worry about how fast you go, as long as you get faster than your first pass!!!

I bought this suit at least 2 year ago , still going strong.
Two of my buddies got them last year. One has been track tested and passed with an "A".

They run a little small.

Those are the same leathers that MPS sells for $349. Looks like a hell of a bargain!
I am looking for a drag racing suit myself, and these might be the ticket.
