correct map question

Ok i have a full yosh system with a map from fuelmoto.com.....a yosh distributor, tuner ect. My question is what is the best way to tell if the motor is running rich or even worse lean?? I know and i will be pulling the plugs in a bout 50-75 miles to see what they look like but I am deathly afraid of melting the motor down. Runs great, excel's great. But when looking at the power commander at an idle it burries the (-) fuel on the power commander screen. Should i be concerned or is this normal? Any other tell tale signs of lean, or is this ZX monster the same as your street car which i can tune........ Thanks guys

If you're using the supplied map, I wouldn't worry about it. If its running fine, let it be. If you're worried about it, go to a local dyno and get a peak HP run w/ the O2 sensor installed. Shouldn't cost you more than $30-50 for 3 runs. If it shows a lean condition, have them do a custom map. I don't recall what the optimum oxygen reading is....

When looking at a dynojet map, keep in mind that its basicly operating from a zero(stock) map. Your adjustments (+ & -) are from the stock fuel amounts. A zero doesn't mean there is no fuel. Zero is the starting point from which you add or take away fuel from the stock fuel map.

As far as getting a definitive answer, you would need to get the bike dynoed, or install a oxygen sensor/sniffer in your exhaust.

The best way to see a/f is with a data logger. Like a Wideband Commander, Wego, or an Innovate. You have to weld a bung in the exhaust for the sensor (unless the pipe already has one), but it is100% the way to go. It is more accurate than even the plugs, because you can see a/f at different throttle positions and rpm.

As far as your setup now, I doubt you are in any danger....unless you pulled the flies out without remapping the lower rpm.

If you go to Brockracing.com and read his diaries, you can see that the bike runs safely with a Muzzy 4/1 exhaust...without a power commander.

ok, i feel better now guys! I just have a full system with flies in. Im running a supplied map from a yosh tuner so i figured i would be alright. I use the bike for an every day commuter and just wanted to be sure that i wouldnt have any problems for years to come! I will ride it for a while and see if anything changes, then pull the plugs, and maybe in the spring get a custom map for the set up. But im not chasing that horsepower gods yet, just wanted to give the bike some more attitude for now. Oh and the handling diffrents from stock pipes to this full system is amazing!! Thanks for the input
