T-3 Tomahawk tire

190/50 ZR 17 T3 BLACK SPORT COMPOUND how heavy is tire compared to other popular tires used at the track? I'm tring to find a light tire to mount on heavy stock rims. the price of these tires are in a poor man's budget.

I have a 200/50/17 on my GSXR1000. I never weighed it but it IS a lot heavier than the stock tire I took off. The tire has been wearing fine and has good traction but is definitely heavier.

yes and no.....retread in regards to new tread on old carcus.....but tire is assemble like a new tire as opposed to a true retread as most people know retreads. I read up on the process. Hell, for $85 shipped, it might be worth it just to be able to replace a tire a month on this beast....I wouldn't know how to ride if I didn't have to worry about shelling out $180 a pop for my current tire (PP 2CT) every 3000 miles, if I ride nice......

Yep these machines go through tires like a ho through mouthwash My only experience with retreads was one car tire that disintegrated at 70 on the highway. Got kinda dangerous and didn't do my front fender any favors either. That was my first and last retread. I'll never run one on a bike I very often have in the high triple digits. You can pick up conti road attacks, avon storms ect for very good prices....a lot cheaper than the PP's, stick great, and they'll last twice as long. Probably still a better, safer deal than the tomahawks

My thought exactly , even pirelli's are cheap. Definitely cheaper than a deductible or hospital stay.

Another issue, I would imagine, is that two "identical" tires might not perform the same. I'm assuming that the "carcass" is potentially different on each retreaded tire, even on the same "model". If that is the case, you really don't know what you are getting.

I'm about to put my second T-3 on my 14 this week. My tire has had about 40-50 runs down the dragstrip, Lots of practicing launches on the street, a few "spirited" rides through the canyons and about 4600 miles on them with a little tread left. The only reason that i bought the first one was because i didn't want to spend the money for a 2CT and then wear a flat spot into the midle of it riding across the desert in 120 degree heat at over 100 mph. The tire is rock solid at 186mph indicated, and Hooks up great at the dragstrip. I will say that it takes a little bit to heat up fully, but for my type of riding I guess that doesn't matter. Until i get another set of wheels so that i can put a shinko on one, I'm sticking with the T-3. At stock length, I've yet to have the tire break loose at the track.
