PCIII and ME
I most likely will not be upgrading my pipes until my tax returns next year, but do you think there is an advantage in getting a PCIII now, and use it for my stock pipes, or should I just wait for when I get my exhaust system? Thanks for your input!

Yes there is an advantage...you can have stock pipes and a PCIII....this allows you to pull the flies and get a BIG performance gain

Ninja_Knight .
Forget about modifying your bike right now. Just go out and ride it. Learn what it can do, what you can do and more importantly, what you can't do.
It is already a very very fast motorcycle. There is more performance in that bike stock than you can imagine. But to extract it you have to know it and how to ride it. You will be a lot
faster(and safer) rider then if you simply start bolting on aftermarket parts.
PC3's may have there place but there is nothing wrong with the MAP that Kawi supplied with the bike. Trust me, (sounds like a used car salesman) the Kawi engineers and R&D know more about that bike than any after market group. If there were a few cheap easy to extract HP in there Kawi would already have that MAP in there.

Ninja Night-I would suggest saving the coin until next year when you can do it right(pipe included). Depending how your bike reacts, you may have to put it on a dyno for alterations and a custom map(more cost just to get your bike to function). Ultimately the choice is yours but this one might burn a hole in your pocket yerning for a full race pipe. Good luck either or..

I would also wait until you can do it right. By pulling the flies off a stock bike you are going to throw off the factory map. It will be necessary to also add the PCIII to control the lean condition around 3000 rpm.
Your original question was could you add a PCIII to the stock bike. That answer is yes with a stock map.
I didn't see what year bike you had. If its an 08 you will not see as much power increase as and 06 or 07 would. If you are planning on pulling the flies my suggestion would be to pull them when you do the exhaust. Then custom map and everything will fall into place.
Good luck either way.

In your boat my friend. I decided to wait until I had everything (except the suspension/brake mods, did those ASAP since they are a safety related). I did put on some slipons just because I found them on Ebay cheap though...
Been three weeks now with my flies out, PCIII w/Muzzy map (dont recommend it, runs rich n pops w crappy mpg), Muzzy M10/M14 exhaust (awesome upgrade from slipons!), K&N filter, and 0W-20 synthetic oil. Besides the oil causing the valvetrain to get really loud ~stupid cam chain tensioner~, the bike is now PERFECT! And a COMPLETELY different animal. Power is everywhere, no need to drive down 2 gears just to have power on tap, simply roll on from any RPM.
Lighter weight, even with my big 320 lb ass onboard, is noticeable. So is the extra top end hit. 3rd gear power wheelies are no problems! Just be ready for that huge power increase. Which means being able to handle the huge power the 14 makes bone stock first!

I bought a PCIII... Now I'm trying to find the proper map for all the upgrades I've done.
I'm happy with the PCIII, but before just throwing on after market see if there is a map
for it. I'm sure that there is a map for mine... I just have to find it.

Welcome KJ! I'm positive these guys will be able to help you find the perfect map for your exhaust! I've seens tons of info on it throughout this site. I am going with a Brock's Smeg so I know the mapping will be just right.

Don't know how many miles you have on your bike but pulling the flys are like removing the training wheels. I would not pull them until you know your bike inside and out-- and in all riding configurations, ie., coming out of corners, passing cars, riding with someone on the back etc. They are a tremendous training aid and the Kawa engineers sure knew what they were doing when they installed those second set of flies. Another great reason to leave your flies in is that-- no one will know if they are in or out... except you. The same with a PC-- no one will know if you have one or not. You can always get a bunch of stickers and put them on the side of your bike. Think of the money you will save... until you get some money.
If you want more excitement I would put some holes in at the end of your exhaust and it costs you practically nothing--
