Reduced rotating mass.
Ever wonder why my stock internal zx12 has always run from 119 in the heat, to 124 in the cold in the 1/8th? Every little bit adds up.

But how does it feel and would it be pratical on the street every once in awhile? I have my rear brakes and i use them sometime more than the front.

Save that technique for a cruiser. On a sport bike you should be using the front brake more.

As Kawasaki fitted two front discs they deemed them neccessary, you should leave them on for the street. Remember they have to cope with varying payloads and speeds and keep on performing. I should add that in the event of an RTA having removed one front brake could count against you.
On the quarter mile drag strip there are different considerations but I wouldn't try a top speed event with just one disc. Stopping from +200mph in 500 yards is quite interesting enough with two discs.

I admit using your rear brake at lower speeds is not a big deal, but you are teaching yourself bad habits that will bite you when you need to panic stop. Leave the rear braking to the engine, and grab them downshifts as fast as you can! Trust us all on this, when the shit hits the fan you will rely on instincts and habits to save (or doom) your life. Riding around using the rear brake is creating a habit that WILL bite back.
I don't want to be saying "RIP jd" and talking about what a great guy you were. Serious as a fucking heart attack! I've lost 3 friends in the last month. All three dead because of irresponsible cagers. Brings to 6 the body count of fallen riders I've known or met in the Seattle area this last 12 months.
This one is pertinent to you: Guy who I met when I helped him pick up his Kawi out of the gravel when he noobed a simple left hander off a main road onto a feeder road. After I got his shifter working again, and told him how to fix the scratches etc.. I followed him to his house and over a beer tried to talk him into riding with me so I could teach him. Never got the call. 3 weeks later its in the paper and his wife n brother are posting on a local forum about it. Old man ran a stop sign, turned left (in a "Right Turn Only" area) right in front of him and he locks his rear tire up trying to stop. Witness's said he was going the limit, 55mph, and his skid mark was 30' long. He would be alive right now if he had learned how to brake properly, and that shit weighs heavy on me.
The other two guys died while *allegedly speeding* down a 4 lane road and a car pulled out into them. Both tried to swerve around the front of the car, an emergency S turn if you will. First one got hit and thrown into a telephone pole. Dead on impact. Other one evaded but he wasn't able to transition his bike back fast enough and took the curb. It threw him into a chain link fence, breaking his neck. Both experienced riders, lots of years riding bikes and both were well known. But neither was a 'carver', they were into stunting and bling. I wonder if one or both of them could have made it if they knew how to rail there bikes properly, or if they woulda just gone MotoGP style full brakes and lessened/avoided it.

stopping distance will be increased. Dangerous.
back brake doesn't matter to this topic, it does what little it does no matter what you elect to do with the front.
if you want to absolutely reduce the effectiveness of your brakes, remove half the front.

On the street, basically one rotor is going to get WAY hotter. For shutting down a 150 mph bike, in the quarter mile, its no big deal. After that stop its over., on a highway, you need it in my opinion.

I rode a ZX10 that a local guy drags with a single 330mm rotor and brembo 4 piston caliper. Honestly, it stopped pretty well. Not sure I'd use it on the street, but it seemed to work "ok". I wouldn't go sport riding and/or roadracing with it though...
Though not apples to apples, the new Buell 1125 really brakes well with one. Though it is a 375mm rotor with an 8 piston caliper and has to weigh at least 100 lbs less than the 14.

rode a buddy's 08 busa with 1 rotor, requires a lot more effort at the lever for braking, but it still stops just fine, of course it will wear more and get hotter under repeated use, but its on the street not the road course,
all you need is one rotor to lock the front wheel! I've seen it done!!!

Also, it depends on the application. Some people need the weight up front.
