First Post Brand New 08 ZX 14
Hey Guys,
Just like to say your forum is awesome. Much learned reading your posts over the past month. I just picked up a 08 zx 14 and i must say it's a monster. I'am 48 years old and i hav'nt owned a bike in 15 years. I owned like 6 kawasaki 1000's years ago and they were nothing like the bike i just bought. Water cooled, Fuel Injection ? Wow what a rush.
I was thinking about buying a Brock S.Meg and power commander . My flies are still in. and from what i read so far with the 08 flies are'nt that big of a deal like the 06,07, that guys don't see much of a change. is this true ? Do you guys think i should remove the flies and map for no flies. Right now i'am just street riding the bike until the law catches up with me and i know it's coming. I live in a small town and i think i'am the only person that has a 08 zx 14 or any zx 14.
Thanks Again for all the great posts.
Harry

Local cops have good ears. Better go in stealth mode you will be less well known unless you crave the attention.

Hi Harry,
I rode our stock 08 demonstrator the other day and it's nowhere near as quick as my 06 bike with a 4:1 titanium exhaust, Power Commander and flies out.
Having said that, it's still a very fast motorcycle but If you ever start to feel it's not so quick it probably means you're getting used to it. That's the time to remove the flies, junk the stock exhaust and step it up a notch.

Thanks again guys for all the welcome post's. I don't feel alone anymore. I don't get to see many bikes or talk to many guys that ride. I got to make it to the track and check they way you guys rip it up. You are right BIgdtd about Smokin he's time's are unreal for a stock bike.
I live like 30 minute's away from Atco Raceway in New Jersey where Ricky Gadson has his shop. There are having the Prostar US Nationals in September and i got to go.
Thanks Again Smokinzx14,Azzx14, Lietoome, Stevwfi, Bigdtd, Supermant, Bobc

Flies have to go -- there's still quite a difference with them in and out. I've owned both an 06 and an 08...

Wow, I'm not the only 48 year old that runs a 14. I had a Ninja 1000R and a ZX11 years ago, and this bike blows the doors off them. I find that the stock bike has more than enough power for blasting down the freeway, and I'm very happy with the street performance as-is. I do want a Street-Gen/PC setup as soon as I can afford it, but mainly for looks and weight reduction.
So welcome to the club. Did you get the awesome Atomic Silver or the midnight blue?

Ditto. A wise rider once told me "if your gonna Cheat, do it quietly". If they can hear you ripping through the gears coming up the road, it's just as bad as them seeing you even if your on the brakes and at the speed limit when you come around the corner and pass them at their hiding spot.
Aftermarket exhausts have great merits with lighter weight and power improvements. However being fast and stealthy is a trait that can be more appreciated depending on your area.

i have never left the stock exhaust on a bike for very long, they run so much better piped and tuned, plus the weight loss and cooler running, its a win, win situation. with brocks mapping the bike will run flawlessly and fast. who cares if they heard you coming when they can't catch up.

Harry- on a side note, Brocks has this silencer plug for about $100 that will quite that S-meg down considerably. If you got it to spare, it's a wise purchase.
Plug out= bawls to the wall performance and sound to go with it.
Plug in=great performance, incognito sound and no decel pop!!!!!!!
