08 DYNO WITH THE GREAT JOHNNY CHEESE
Dynoed my 08 today at Johnny Cheese's place and the results were disappointing, but not unexpected. Came back with 161 rwhp and about 100 ft/lbs torque. Most of the magazine articles I had seen had the 08 around 159-165, strangely lower in hp but running faster quarters than the 06/07. Weird. The Cheese said a pipe and PWCIII would get me about 15 or so more horses and maybe 5 of torque. I saw an earlier post on an 08 with these mods and he was about at 174, so that works out right. I was thinking of slipons, because I like the symmetry, but I'm thinking more and more about the full exhaust. Any thoughts?

Buy the full exhaust the first time and be satisfied without pissing money away.

I agree... you can't go wrong with a good 4-1. One of these days when I can afford it, I'm going to lmfao. It's kind of hard convincing my wife that I need 1500 dollars to spend on my bike, when it's already way faster than she would like. Oh well... I guess for now I'll just practice practice practice so that I can make up for my lack of power. I'm thinking of going to Lee's cycles here in san diego and putting mine on his dynojet to see what it puts out, but I'm not sure if it's worth spending the 65 dollars for 4 runs or whatever just to be disappointed. I need a damn pc3 so that I can pull the flies first. If only I didn't have to re-map for that lol. Maybe I'll just re-jet my carbs *wink*

Yep, full system, PC and a decent map. The only way to go for more power and less weight.

Get a Brock pipe and his free maps are said to be very close to perfect.
He has maps for flies out. also.

Ninja12 is correct! If you buy the PCIII from Brock he will preload a map for you. Just got mine with the Shortmeg and all I can say is D&*#!! I know a guy that spent quite a bit of money having his PCIII and Brocks map re-dynoed to get 2 additional HP. Brocks maps are spot on!!

tuning for the dyno and for true world performance are two different things, brocks has dyno only maps that are made for "impressing your friends" or a dyno queen bike. if you want the bike to perform with the ram air going load his track or maxton map and HOLD ON. most guys i know that run dynos tell me i would be wasting my time and money trying to improve on the brock's map. if you live in some extreme altitude that may not apply, but in florida his maps rock.

Smokehouse- Both my buddy and I have 06s which have made 180-184 hp on Johnny's dyno with just full system pipe & PC.
He made 4 more hp with Brocks SMeg than my Tsukigi, Johnny will get you the power you need.
I run @SAR most nights, stk wheelbase 235lbs in shorts, 10.0s consistanly, come out next Friday, bikenite!
Always love to have more 14s at the track. 
Maybe I can help you get a little closer to your goals, I'm no Smokin' type pilot,
but I usually can teach someone better than I can actually do it myself. 
What kind of mph are you running, that tells HP the best?
What gearing are you running, and have you pulled the flys yet?

I appreciate all the info guys. Very helpful. Halvefast, thanks so much! Mr. Cheese is quite the cool cat. I went to Europe earlier this year, spent some money on repairs to my daily driver truck, and I am going to Alaska this coming Thursday, so the money is going to be a little tight for a system for a couple of months. But the decision HAS been made! Full exhaust. Right now I am completely stock except for a BMC filter. Check out my other thread on my first night at SAR this last Friday. I consistently ran about 131mph. R/T was right at .05 and several high .04's. 60's sucked, usually around 1.8/1.9. I'd enjoy getting with you at SAR in the future. I'll be the sponge and soak up all that advice.

Whats your launch technique and launch rpms............Like Halvefast and others have said I think you would benefit GREATLY from gearing changes, pulling the flies, and adding a Power Commander and a full exhaust.
Also do you think you were letting off at all at the end and what was the bike doing when you launched, wheeying, spinning, bogging, pulling strong, etc.....

Most definitely Entropy, very lucky. He informed me that I WOULD be going to the Texas Mile. I, of course, informed him that I would. I will just have to buy upgrades as I can and let Johnny do his thing with them as I get'em. It may take a little time. In the meantime, when I'm back I'll be practicing. As far as my technique, I'm up over the tank and bars, elbows high, right hand wrapped over the throttle, revving to around 6grand. I'm off very fast but just wasn't able to let go of that clutch completely quickly enough. I was tucked and elbows in as quick as I could. I was too worried with the wheel coming up, but as the night went on, that wasn't bothering me as much. By the way, the fastest I saw out there before I left that night was the 10.4 by the Gixxer 1000, who I later beat with him running a 10.44. If I was lighter I definitely would have reeled some guys in, but.......(That's not counting the rail dragster that was running 8.0s)

6 grand is way too high you should try leaving at lower rpm and cranking on the throttle more and quicker, just remember you should be able to control everything with the clutch. Easier said then done but i leave between 2-3k usually. 1.6 60ft all day stock wheelbase and gear and got my best 1.57 last friday should be able to get a little better.

It has always lugged, but I'll try and twist that throttle quicker. Here's a pic. Should be plenty to critique. LOL

Keep in mind that he still has his flies in i believe so 6 grand is a reasonble launch RPM.

You REALLY need to pull the flies and go with some lower gearing.........then you can kinda just pop the clutch and go WOT almost immediately, pulling the flies is free, and gearing is REALLY cheap, at your weight you should probably be around 16/42, 17/45 or 16/43............then when you get a Power Commander and full exhaust that bike will REALLY rock.

I like the Silver color.............IMHO, your front wheel is a couple of inches off the ground which is usually good, i think you should be leaning forward in more of a tuck though..........i think you should give the gearing a try, if you go to the strip at all you should really benefit from the lower gearing and most of the ratios i gave you will still cruise decent on the highway as well.

do you have full leathers (zip together), boots n gloves? steering damper? relatively new-ish helmet? If so, its all good.

Thanks for all the input guys!!! I've kinda formed a plan now as far as the order of additions that I can do, and I've got a lot of suggestions from here and Dragbike to try out when back from my trip. Now Entropy! I said I told Johnny I would go there, not ride there, LOL!!! I don't think I'll be ready to ride this time around, but hopefully next time. If you are getting blocks of rooms, let me know, I'm going to come up with my girlie for at least one of the days and night.

08 flies open fully at 3k rpm so it dont matter that much, best i've been so far leaving at 2k rpm is 9.5@147, bazzaz,fliesout,fulltiforce, i'm 187 out of the shower. Stock gear still learning the bike. Theres was a pretty good 250lbs without leathers rider at the track same day as me running same times with, fulltiforce,pc3,stock wheelbase and 16 tooth front sprocket,air shifter, his 60fts were in the low 1.6 high 1.5s leaving at 3k rpm.

Think about this in regards to kawabonzai's dyno sheet...the stock map was very rich. What would have been the results if he had simply leaned out the stock map? 168 rwhp??
My bike on the same dyno from one yr to the next made practically the exact same power....and last year it had slipons, and this year it has full exhaust. Same type of weather, same dyno.
This yr I made 171 rwhp...an 08 busa with Brock SMEG made 178, five minutes later.
BobC makes 191 rwhp with the same exhaust as me...go figure? This is why we need to share maps.
I have 25 dyno pulls earlier this yr with different mapping all over the place. Including Brocks maps, muzzy's, HPC's, etc...... STOCK mapping made very good power, very close to Brocks..like 2 or 3 hp!! No flies, no air filter screen, 4 deg advance, PC111 and TiForce full ex.
Take my post how you want. But there are some very happy dyno's out there!
