Rain Gear?
Hey everyone, I'm sick of wasting money driving the truck in the rain, I just want to ride and save money and I'm looking for some good rain gear that also looks good. Anyone know where I can get some?

You might do a search on Frog Toggs? I have heard that they are pretty decent although I have no experience with them myself.

I have a tour master 1 pcs rain suit when I know there is a storm coming or I'll be in the rain for any length of time. I spent over 2 hours in the rain with the tour master and was pretty dry when I got home.
I use a River Road 2pcs for shorter trips, the pants used to have suspenders, but was pulled off when I forgot to put them on B4 a ride.

+1 for frog toggs. I personaly do not use them but my parents take a few trips a year. last year they got caught in a rain storm out by Maine and they said there frog toggs worked great. but again thats just what the parents said....

I have used alot of cheap gear, and it all either leaked, tore up from the wind blast, or both. Until I bought my 2 piece Tour Master Elite II gear from

I chose them because the Elite II is the best compromise between stowability (they roll up to a 10" length, the diameter of a soda can with an included watertight bag) and ultimate protection. Plus when they say to order the size jacket you wear, it actually does fit over your riding gear- I was very leary of it being too tight, but they were dead on.
If I put it on properly, including the hoody under the helmet, I dont get wet AT ALL. Even in a total downpour riding from Bellingham to Granite Falls, WA. (1 1/2 hour ride), I was so dry and comfortable that I took the long windy route just for the fun of it. In a nonstop torrential downpour. Yeah, its that good. Too bad my "water resistant" boots weren't water proof lol.
Pants and jacket came to $75, but there prices fluctuate.
Oh yeah, I highly recommend the 2 piece. I've found that the times I've been caught out in light rain on the 14 that as long as I keep my knees in my legs barely get wet. Just keep moving and away from the mist thrown up by the cars ahead and the top piece is all you need as "insurance" on a questionable day.

I have the Tour Master 2-peice as well. When stowed in its bag its about the size of a large binder notebook. Actually contemplated bringing it on my ride to Greenville, NC this past weekend. Ride there was good. Caught hell in VA on the way back. It took up too much space in my tailbag and the forecast didn't warrant enough rain to justify using the valuable packing space.

Thanks for all your help everyone. I ended up ordering a tourmaster defender 2 piece. It fits well and looks nice over my riding gear. As soon as I get a chance to test it, I will put up a review.

Nice choice, almost got the defender myself. I had planned on riding through the last winter so I got the sturdier Elite II.
Never did ride much in the rain, though. Chickened out- Or I'm getting to old to put up with 40 degree F. cold 4am mornings in the rain.
