Fork Removal / Stand?

Is there a good stand that will support the front end properly and allow me to remove the front forks? I was thinking of a pit bull pin-type, but would like some feedback. Thanks.

Shane

DO NOT buy the T-rex stands featured on ebay. I bought a set and they worked fine on my TL, but on the 14 it hits the front fender and the pin won't stay seated in the head.

I have the Pitbull Newfront Stand, and it is very stable. I'm sure that you know the bike has to be on a rear stand first before you raise the front.

At least the pin is easy to choose - you need the #14 Pin! Make sure that you install it correctly.

I removed the front fender before using mine just to make sure I didn't scratch it.

If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

I have a set of VORTEX stands in the classifieds I used just for such type work. Doesn't much matter what type bike, they'll hold a harley up.

No matter what stand you buy, YOU HAVE TO USE THE ZX14 PIN!!!!! I nearly destroyed my radiator when I used a pit bull stand with the generic pin that fit my bike. It was on a rear stand and when me and my friends attempted to lift it, it contacted the underside of the center fairing under the headlights, lifted the pin out of its hole and it slammed backwards into the radiator. Mangled the fins and bent a tube, but no leaks- probably because I was doing a Hercules impression holding the bikes weight by the top triple clamp while they extracted it from the radiator. Pays to be a big SOB sometimes...

I just ordered a set of Trex stands and he assured me 3 times that they have the right pin for a 14. 15.5mm is what size he emailed me back. I'll let you know when they get here.

I'll put up some pics of it on the stand when it gets here. It looks like to me he's copying Pitbull's design and adding some bracing if he's using the same wall thickness as the Pitbulls I'm not gonna compain one bit.

I like forward handle pit bull rear stand for the garage, but for the race track Pit Bull stuff is a little to heavy for me. I prefer a couple of other brands

Trex with the proper pin is perfect for me:

If your front is lowered you may have difficulty getting the pin in though.

Nice!

If they're like the VORTEX stands, the height will adjust for lowered bikes

I have a mig, but I would hate getting the welder out over adjusting a stand height.
