modifying stock exhaust?

Picked up a set of stock pipes for $50.00 and thinking about taking them apart and ceramic coating them. Anyone ever take one apart to see what the insides are like? Was wondering if you could gut them by taking out the CATs and modifying baffles. Ideas?

They are welded together. There is a muffler incased in the stainless steel. They are extremely heavy. Save the $50.00 and save for some slip-ons. Even finding a used aftermarket muffler and modifying it to fit would be better that the sock pipes. Why do you think they sell for so cheap?

It's easier to find some '08 GSXR 1000 pipes and gut them. The caps rivet back on. I just had a muffler shop make some mid pipes. They actually turned out pretty nice and looked good on the bike IMO.

use the mid pipes and go to auto zone to buy yourself a couple of tips. do a little fitting and welding and you end up with a set of these... kind of loud, but they make good top end and have a mean rip. Thanks Qwick for building this set for me.
