I'm just waiting for some project idea...something compelling. I guess that is pretty bad...a 250+ hp NA bike should be enough to get me going, I suppose.

Yes, still have the Klipsch.

Hello Shane, what happened to the pics?
Can you email me them all because I started to modify another ZX14 and I maybe need them?

Just an update to the thread, for those who wondered what kind of power that race motor would make...

Well, I recently took up the project again, and finally installed the race motor that Steve Knecum built for me. With it running solidly, I needed a good tune. I turned to Brock Davidson for advice, and he connected me with Bryan Snyder. Bryan has an excellent reputation, and I soon was making the trip to have the bike tuned. So, I'll cut to the chase....

The calm after the storm:

The results:

Bryan worked his tuning magic methodically and took care not to beat the engine up. Needless to say, I am pretty thrilled with the results! When this baby comes on the cam, you're gonna feel it...169 hp@7k rpm turns into 211@7900 rpm. I can't wait to really open it up!!

You guys probably know the basic specs: 1534, Competition CNC head and cam combo, Steve Knecum build. Tiwinder handles the exhaust side, and Alisyn Oil and Petron additive in the crankcase. The bike also has a high volume oil gear from Competition CNC, and Adams modified cases handling oiling duties. A BST wheel with ceramic bearings transmits the power, and the bike drinks VP MRX-02 fuel. She spins to extended rpm with a GUHL-flashed ecu.

Anyway, I am pretty stoked about it. Special thanks, in any order, to Brock's, Bryan Synder, Competition CNC, Guhl Motors and Steve Knecum...all top notch folks, products, and services!!

Thanks! Maybe I will run it at both...I'm thrilled to be able to ride it again! This motor can also take a pretty good shot of spray, but I want to just run it NA for now.

With the stroker motor, BST wheels, Tiwinder exhaust, $1100 fuel tank...I've decided to increase my paint budget this time around. I am increasing it about 15%...up to $7 now.

Kawasaki green, House of VHT:

Sure, it's kind of pricey, but looks are everything!!

Did you use rattle cans? Or purchase a pint and use a spray gun? Looks good for a DIY, paint the rest of the fairing etc.

Rattle cans! I like being able to lay the bodywork on the ground at the track, without worry.

I can't bring myself to put expensive paint on my race bikes...and if you get too many bugs on there, that won't come out...you just spray over them!!

Great stuff Shane!

Glad you and Racheal made it by again.

And I'm looking forward to your project DOING something... you know with the bike MOVING, instead of just endless yammering about it. lol!

No hurry Shane! I just mean in general...

These Internet 'project' bikes that never seem to prove the 'expertise' of the builder are such a bore.

I spent a lot of time prepping the bike this week, but the weather up in Maine just looked too bad to justify the trip.

Still, was worth the time I put in. Airshifter, bodywork, new battery arrangement, etc...it's all coming together nicely! And of course, my always popular rattle-can paint....
