only thing i see from 67 pages is alot of part swapping and no results

I realize that the thread can be hard to search, due to it's size. With 68 pages, 1677 posts, over 860 photos, multiple videos, dyno charts, weights and measures, etc...it is a lot to sift through. The table of contents currently only covers the first 38 pages of the thread. I will be updating the table soon, and hopefully providing clickable links within it. That will make it much easier to find any information and/or topics that might be of interest to you and others.

Again, thank you for the contribution.

I decided to have the motor work done by a good builder. I have too many irons in the fire right now, and I don't have time to learn engine building over the holidays, lol. Before I know it, it will be Spring and I want to be racing!

It wasn't too bad. I was able to do the entire job by myself in about 2 hours, at a leisurely pace, without referencing the service manual. That includes draining the oil and coolant. I already had the bodywork off before I started. I also took the time to weigh the complete engine, at 175 lbs. I suggest putting the engine down on a dolly or jack of some sort (I used a hydraulic motorcycle lift, but it is not shown in the pictures).

The builder and I are still working out the details, but a cylinder head swap and the upgraded transmission, at minimum.

Well, the engine made a trip north today (sorry about the dusty lens...backup camera, lol):

For anyone who hasn't transported an engine before, old tires work well as a holder.

It will be interesting the see the condition of the engine, when inspected. Although it only has about 2500 miles on it, I started racing it at 1100 miles. It has around 500 dragstrip passes, 60 or so LSR top speed passes (Probably about 100 miles WOT), and 110 dyno pulls on it. It's never had the valve cover off. I changed the oil roughly every 100 miles once I started racing it...sometimes more often than that.

If I have not mentioned it before, the name of my builder is Steve Knecum. He is well known in the drag racing and LSR world. His engines hold many, many LSR records. In fact, one of his naturally aspirated Hayabusa engines just powered to over 250 mph at Bonneville.

Steve inspected my engine, and says that everything looked great inside. No signs of abuse or damage.

Even though I have put 25+ gallons of MR9 through it, everything looked nice and clean...including the plugs. Of course I always drain the system and run pump fuel through it, often with some fuel stabilizer.

We are still working out some details of this build, but I am sure the engine is in good hands with Steve.

Nice, cant wait to see the results Shane..........do you think your going to bore or stroke it at all?

Is Jim's ported head going on this build or Rachels bike first?

We are still working out the full details...but I should have more specifics this week after Steve and I talk. It will definitely get a ported head and cams....but maybe a different head from the one I already have. That one might end up on Racheal's bike.

It is a pretty nice harness and works as-is. I installed the kill box under the seat. You can also see where I tapped into the coil wires:

Shane, I'm installing my mps shifter, and I was wondering which wires are the coil wires? I like the way you did your setup. Thanks

Works like a charm.

Biggest tip would be to take your time. It is easy. Drain coolant, remove exhaust and radiator, remove TB's, loosen all mounts and lower the front first, allowing it to pivot on the rear mount. Cake.
