Too bad about machined clutch cover. I liked it, hope you figure out a way to mod it.

Work in progress:

Fitting the tail section and modifying the subframe are going to take me a while with my current schedule...but the results should be worth it.

I suppose..... That being said, which do you like better as far as looks go, extended tail or stock tail? Also, what is the purpose of the extended tail. Is it just to fit more stuff in the back, or does it let you get lower? Or is it pretty much just cosmetic?

I really loved the way my bike looked last year. But when I added wheelbase, I knew it would not look right with the stock tail.

The bodywork I have is Prostreet bodywork. The tail is only 4" over stock, whereas my wheelbase is getting closer to +10". It is the minimum length tail that will work the the Prostreet tank. The Prostreet tank is lower overall, with a lower seating position that puts you more forward on the bike. It is also much lighter than the stock tank.

So, to me, based on function alone...the new parts are beautiful! I would say don't pass judgement on the looks until you see the whole package. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder...and these parts are designed primarily with function in mind.

Looking Good Shane. Pan is a really nice made part. CNC , that would have taken me way too

many hours to make manual on a Bridgeport mill..

T&J are good people. Tressie was so nice and helped me set up my account. She even
threw in a tee shirt. with case of 10W40.

Never used a Wix filter on a bike. My 14 has extended warranty so I use the Amsoil oil but a OEM filter. Hurt a engine and have to have towed to Dealer.OEM filter. Thinking they could
have aexcuse to say NO. :-)

Did you ever has OSR cut one of your stock pans?? If so PM me if you want to
sell it.

Louis

Thanks Louis I really try my best to help. I appreciate the complement.

Thanks
Tressie

You are welcome Tressie. Will be purchaseing another case later this summer. Will try it in old FJ1200 my son rides. :-) too. When I finally set up my 14 to a track bike set up I will change the oil even more often. Clutch material in oil... :-(

Speaking of that, this is what was in my stock pan when I removed it:

I assume that is friction material. No clutch failures, just 200+ passes (and 5+ oil changes along the way).

Shane, what kind of spacer did you use on the front brake to take the place of the caliper? I just removed my right brake, and I can't use the stock bolts with my brocks brackets because they are too long. I was going to buy some shorter bolts, but it looks like in this picture you have some sort of spacers. Whatcha got?

Thanks

Jorgen

Shane, I was looking at this video in review from my drag racing yesterday, and it doesn't look like you're going full throttle right out of the hole. I was gradually giving it more and more steam from the hit, but I only tried full throttle out of the hole once. What is your best launch technique?

Watching these 2 vids it looks like both of you are getting the throttle pinned at the hit. I need to work on that...... Sounds scary

The first video shown above, I was being pretty easy on it and it was on pump gas, if I recall. I think that was about 10 months ago??

My goal along the way was to just have the throttle pinned by the tree. Which is what I did that got me in the 8's at the end of last year. Everyone does it differently, and pinning it right off won't hurt you as long as you don't get scared and do something dumb if it spins and/or wheelies. I can promise you that a lot of people who think they are pinning at the hit, really aren't...but only a data logger will tell you for sure.

Sometimes it is hard to overcome the mental block that keeps you from being aggressive with the throttle. When I used to ride Racheal's 1000, I made a lot of passes just focusing on my thottle hand. After a while, I told myself each time that I would try to rip the throttle cables out on the hit! It was fun.

My style is changing now with the wheelbase and sidewinder, and I am getting more aggressive. I had a lot of setup issues last time out, but I did get my best 60' so far, at 1.43. I see a lot more coming if I can lose the 24 lbs I have gained back. The scale says I am 235 suited now.
