Here is another pass, a 9.00. If you pause the bike at about the 660' you can see me leaning the bike into the wind:
You can see the flags blowing left to right across the track. We had a pretty sharp crosswind for much of the day. That had to sap some mph and a little ET.

Way to go Shane! I like that exhaust tip. Was thinking of buying a side winder ex. but now I think I'm going to check out Auto Zone when I get back on land. Don't know how that's going to work with the Muzzy m14 mid pipe so far under the bike though. Also we'll be looking forward to hearing from you soon.

I really am not too happy with the way my bike is running right now....I think the intake/exhaust setup is hurting me. The exhaust tip started rattling after all of the dyno pulls...3R racing has let me down.
I think a good quality exhaust tip with a full map would still perform pretty well, though.

quote:Good to see Shane.
You now need to do it on a regular basis to show it's the bike and rider, not the air, humid, and wind etc.
Once you do that, watyagonado?
Well done and congrats.
I wish the bike had been running good Saturday. Mph was down for me, and the 60 foots suffered as well. It really needed part throttle mapping, it ran stronger with my other exhaust and muffler setup....in the heat. I am formulating my 2010 plans right now, and they involve a lot of 8 second passes.

After racing in the crosswinds for most of the day, it become second nature to lean in to it, I guess. Here is a freeze-frame from another pass, showing just how much I am leaning it into the wind:
That kind of leaning will definitely scrub some mph! Hard to build speed riding sideways.

Here is a good picture of my rear suspension at full squat. At this point it does not contact the Tiger undertail:
I have some suspension changes in store for the winter. Relatively minor stuff. Another issue I have to deal with is my lower back health. I just can't bend at the waist like I need to in order to get low on the bike. In fact, the doctor wrote me a prescription for physical therapy last year (degenerative disc disease)... but I blew it off.

since your bike is turning more and more into an all out race bike, why don't you do the catalyst grudge tank and tail?

I looked at one of those tanks. They are too close to a thousand bucks for me.. BUT I bet it would make it possible for you to get in full tuck. What about mounting footpegs on your swingarm? I think ninjaboy has them.

They are nice tanks...but you also have to drain the tank after every race. From what I read, certain fuels can be hard on them and destroy the sealing material. There are other options, like cutting the stock tank. I am looking at a few different things...
I am also looking at drag pegs, but I want to come up with a "complete package" so to speak, before I change anything.

Nice job on the 8's bud! You and I are about the same weight (fat asses). I started my diet and exercise program a couple weeks ago, you got any plans to drop some over winter?

Absolutely. I am going to start something BEFORE the holiday.

Just a side note. I have been working on getting my 2002 ZX-12R back on the road. I made a 1050 mile trip to FL this weekend to get the motor in the bike. I am actually on the road home now. Here’s some info on that project:
quote:As some of you know, my 12R has been in mothballs for quite some. Well, the motor has been complete for quite some time, and soon it will be installed. I did some work on the bike today to get it ready for that. The bike has pretty much sat unattended in my garage for the last two years.
Here are some pics:
I went through the basics: fresh fuel, battery, new tires/ metal valve stems, clean up, reinstall brakes, new chain and sprockets on order, etc..I also have new braided brake lines and new pads to install as time permits.
It's nice to see it coming together, even if it doesn't yet have a motor. I should have some updates within the next couple of weeks or so; I'm really looking forward to riding this bike again.
quote:I have an update:
The Ace Performance 1287cc motor is in the bike!
I'm actually still on the road, headed home. But I have a few pics to post up:
I took the bike for one quick pull (without the lower fairings) to about 180 mph actual, and let me tell you...this motor delivers. I don't want to sound too giddy...but I'm telling you, it absolutely rips! My 14 is pretty quick and very light, but this bike will rip it a new one when it comes on the power.
I will have a lot more to post later, but suffice it to say that I am thrilled with the way the bike runs. I'd also like to thank Sal and everyone for the help and hospitality this weekend; it was greatly appreciated.
Tomorrow I still have 900 miles of driving to do...so that I can arrive home and enjoy the 5 inches of snow on the gound.
The motor in this bike is wicked. I wish the 14 ran like this! Ace Performance does ZX-14 motor work as well, so perhaps one day it will?

This is somewhat ZX-14 related. You may recall that I had purchased this custom Area P muffler for my 14:
(Shown above on the Muzzy M14)
Well, it ended up being used on the 1287cc ZX-12R:
Very mellow sound, even being a short muffler with a large core:

Brothers, born 5 years apart:
If I could combine the 14's setup with the 12R's motor...that would be pure gold. As it stands, that will have to wait a couple of seasons.

Pro Stock bikes are set up very differently than these street bikes. Watch the fast grudge racers. Often you don't see the feet come up until after the 1-2 shift...now, I'm not saying you need to drag them to the 330' mark, either.
